Port Orleans Riverside - Royal Rooms?

I've stayed at both Art of Animation and Riverside. It is absolutely worth the extra money to stay at Riverside. You will notice a HUGE change in overall quality, not to mention service and theming. The regular rooms are very nice, the royal rooms are fancier and have a great location near the main building. If the price is just too much for the royal rooms, I'd highly recommend a regular room. Who knows, maybe you'll love it so much that next trip you'll come back and swing for a royal room?
Thank you. I might book a regular room if I can't afford the royal room. I am hoping that a discount might come out for April that will help.

The royal rooms are my favorite that I've stayed in so far! My last 3 trips, I stayed in a royal room and I just love it! I prefer the queen beds over the full size, and the rooms are slightly bigger which is nice to have the extra space. The décor and grounds of the mansion area are so beautiful. I always request building 90 and book garden view. Each trip, the room location just got better. I stayed for 10 days this past November and my room was facing the quiet pool, just steps away from the foot bridge, so the walk to the main building and South Depot bus stop was only about 3 minutes. It is a big resort, but I found building 90 Oak Manor to be perfect - not far at all, so we like to book the RR and request that building when staying at Riverside. If you are in building 95 Parterre Place, you might have a further room, depending if you book standard view.

POR is just so relaxing and quiet.. I really feel like I am on vacation every single time I stay there. Also, the food court at POR is one of the best! I must say, this past November, my friends were staying at AoA so I went over there one night to hang out with them and have dinner. I couldn't believe how loud it was everywhere, inside and outside.. there were people everywhere. I think that is something I am not used to at POR. Even when the resort is fully booked, you'd never know it. It is so quiet.
Thanks so much for your comments. This was very helpful. I appreciate the room location tips very much. I agree that AoA is loud and I would prefer a quieter resort this time. Thanks again!

I was able to tour the Royal Room and it's very cute. I call it the "Princess and the Frog" room because of where it's located but I know all Princess are in there. I love the detail, even the faucet is the genie's lamp.

agree with everything you say, but a Garden view at Magnolia Manor is better located than the royal rooms (mansions) and is a lot less money

I've stayed at both, and enjoyed both! I liked the royal rooms better because of the little touches and the overall hotel, but I did enjoy staying at AoA with the Little Mermaid rooms. You can always book one, and if you happen to change your mind, or if a discount comes out, you can call to change it!

My upcoming trip will be my first stay at riverside I have a king room booked. Any suggestions on where I should request to be? I don't mind a 5 minute walk but don't want to much more than that to the main area. Is Oak manor in general a short walk to the main area? Or does the building number really matter?

Oak Manor is one of the royal room buildings. On the map it is the red building #90. I think it depends on if you are on the river side of the building or parking lot side. I have always been on the river side of the building, so it is a shorter walk. There is a foot bridge right by it. Since you have a king bed booked, you'll either be in one of the Alligator Bayou buildings in green or 1 of the mansion buildings in green on the map. The blue buildings are preferred rooms, so you would have had to book preferred to get one of those. Our first stay at POR, we were in Alligator Bayou, building 24 and it was a hike! That is why I think Oak Manor was so nice and such a huge difference in location.
