I am staying for the first time in Port Orleans Riverside with my boyfriend in August. it will be my first time staying at this resort. We were staying at Pop Century but i was just there for two weeks, and wanted a quieter setting.. way tooooo many kids at pop century.

Any special delicious food items in the food court?
Any Port Orleans info I should know about?
Pros and Cons?
Is French Quarter better?

I have stayed at POR once this past February and loved it. I would suggest taking some time to just walk around the place and maybe even walk over to the French Quarter if you feel like. It is very relaxing and peaceful to just look around. One thing at the food court I would suggest is getting the turkey dinner from the meat station. Very tasty. They actually ran out of turkey when I was there on one of the nights so they subsituted a marinated grilled chicken which was also tasty. And there is always the apple pie with vanilla bean ice cream on top. yummm

I love Riverside, definately prefer it over French Quarter, the little pathways make it seem more private and I find the pool has less kids.

One of my favorite things is taking the boat to Downtown Disney, it's a nice ride and a good change from the busses. You can also just take the boat or walk over to French Quarter for a change of scenery.

The food court is good but I usually eat at Boatwrights i like the buttermilk fried chicken with waffles (mmmmm...chicken and waffles, what genius planned that meal?) :slurp: My sister enjoys the Jambalaya but I don't eat much spicy food so I haven't tried it.

Have a great stay!

We always stay at POFQ, but walk to POR for the food court. They have a really good dinner menu. The build your own salad is awesome. If you venture to POFQ, I would suggest an order of beignets. They are heavenly delicious. If you can afford it, try the horse drawn carriage ride between the resorts. We did for our wedding back in March. It is done in the evenings and it was a nice romantic ride. We like POFQ because it is smaller and quieter. POR is spread over a bigger area. The resort grounds are nicer there, but we like POFQ. Just a personal choice for us. Enjoy your trip!!

I personally like Riverside a bit better than FQ.

Following you will find a map of the grounds.
They are divided into two sections, Alligator Bayou and Magnolia bend.

At Magnolia bend, my favorites are Oak Manor and Parterre Place. They are an easy walk to the main lobby. Unfortunately one of the best things, breakfast at Boatwrights is no longer available...

Food court is fine, nothing exceptional, but never too crowded either. Great Piano Bar at the River Roost.

I do suggest that you use the main bus stop by the Main Building (blue Bayou and River Delta bus platforms for heavier travel times. There are three satellite bus stops that are fine for drop off, but often will have totally full busses arriving.

The main swimming pool is very nice
I think you'll find the grounds very enjoyable.

On my last trip, the make-your-own salad & the make-your-own pasta were two of the best meals that my family ate on property. But that could be because I got to pick what was in it?!?!?!?!?

Must see Bob Jackson at the Roost River Lounge - he's great. The food court is good. Lots of variety. Have stayed there three times and have enjoyed each time. Boat ride to Downtown Disney is also really nice.

The walking path around POR that eventually makes it's way down to POFQ is a really nice walk, it's also great for a run if you need a workout. POR is one of our 3 favorite resorts, we love the place, the theming is outstanding, be sure to walk the grounds and take it all in.

You made a good decision! Be sure to ask for a Mansion room...we prefer that to the bayou.

I definitely think you are making the right decision to upgrade to PO! We *almost* stayed there this time ourselves. It's such a beautiful resort!

Personally, I like the FQ side better, but I'm really into the whole French-style architecture. I also believe that FQ is first pick up, first drop off when it comes to the buses.

I definitely agree, though, if you are staying in Riverside to ask for Magnolia Bend.

Have a great trip!

I like FQ better b/c it's smaller but riverside's food court is better and has really good food. Plus there's a boatwrights and a bar with a piano player. Really nice place. I have to say Port Orleans is my favorite mod place to stay. I like Pop century, but I agree it's crowded.
