So I have a 3 night cruise booked on the Dream in April. My wife and I booked the Atlantis Beach Day & Discover Atlantis port adventure. Has anyone does this one before, and if so, is it worth it?

Andy, the wife and I did the Discover Atlantis on our first trip there. It was ok to do the sightseeing if you wanted to get an idea of the resort. You could also hit the casino if that is your thing when you finish. It was just ok for us, and its not something we'd do again. However, since you have the beach day, you would have a better layout of the resort. That's just my opinion.

any other tips for Nassau? We have done Atlantis to death... and its all very overpriced to essentially walk around a vegas-esque hotel!!!

There's an old part of town with old churches and the like to explore, if you're into historical things.

I've done the Aquaventure at Atlantis a few times now. I'm looking forward to trying a few new things I found.

First, there's the John Watlings Rum Distillery. Then I'd like to see the rum cake factory. Also, the Graycliff chocolatier would be cool. Disney does an excursion to that last one, tho.

We have done the Atlantis Aquariums tour which was ok. It was a nice way to see the resort and the aquariums but we probably wouldn't do it again. We have also done the Blue Lagoon Island Sea Lion encounter and had lots of fun. Most of the time we just get off the ship and walk around for a bit - visit straw market, the streets around the port, and that other indoor market place that's right by the dock (I can't remember the name). We try to get back on the ship before everyone else so we have a few hours of low crowds time in the pool.

Family and I went this summer and did the Atlantis day. We used to stay every summer for a week on property so it was nothing new, only downsides I can think of would be:1. Lots and lots of walking, everything is very spread out , and 2. Expensive! Think wdw prices but higher. On a side note when we were there in the summer a local friend of our family told us to avoid certain areas of Nassau that were more "local" as Nassau has been plagued by unusually high violent crime rates, I'm not sure if this is still the case or if it has calmed down but just a heads up.

There's still warnings from the state dept. about crime in Nassau. As a woman, I wouldn't go wandering off into town on my own. I'd try to stick with a group, recruit a man-person to go with if I could, and carefully arrange my transport to/from where I wanted to go. Much like any big city in America, really. You just can't let your guard down because you're on the vacation cloud.

Blue Lagoon dolphin and sea lions are good. The beach is a sheltered lagoon that has huge inflatables gym stuff that would be great fun if you have kids or are the kid at heart.

We stay on the ship at Nassau. We've done the Blue Lagoon Sea Lion and really liked that but after that we didn't really have the desire to go ashore. We enjoy the semi-empty ship :)

It looks like we might be on the same cruise. We are going on the 4/24 3-day Dream.

I've stayed on the ship and I have ventured off to take friends and family into the straw market, etc. I'm not a fan of Nassau by any means and I do warn clients to be very careful when they go there. Don't wear any bling, watch out for the over-zealous taxi drivers, don't make eye contact with anyone at the straw market and stick together. LOL My husband and daughter did the Atlantis Aquaventure and did not enjoy it mostly due to the unseasonably cold weather, but one of my agents did it in September and she loved it.

Like several others on the forum- we stay on the ship now. The Blue Lagoon Sea Lion encounter was GREAT but we've done it. Yeah, it's an extra day at sea now. We sail on Feb. 27 for a three nighter and don't even consider Nassau anymore.

Geez, everyone seems to hate Nassau. I have never been so is the beach at Atlantis decent at least?

This will be our second Disney Cruise in  , but first where it will port anywhere. We're going to get off the ship for a little while in Nassau, just because. But we're going to walk anywhere we go, use sanctioned self-tour maps, and try to stay within eyeshot of other guests. No taxis, no hair braiding, no purchases, no wandering off the beaten path.

Yes, the beach at Atlantis is nice. You'll enjoy it. Nassau is just one of those places that invokes strong sentiments. Either you like it or you don't. I'm always in search of interesting things off the beaten path. I've got my mini list of things to go see on my next Nassau visits. The more others don't care for it, the more curious I am. There are hidden gems in plain sight everywhere. I'm all for finding them. There's some tacky characters for sure and you definitely need to stay alert. But, you know, there's good people everywhere, too. If I never ventured or tried if miss the good people/stuff. Go see Nassau for yourself. See how other people live. See other places. Just stay alert & safe. :)
