Pop Rooms

Hey, I asked this question a few weeks ago and wanted to rehash the topic...

I've stayed in the 50's (building 3 facing the lake) before, but my girlfriend said she wanted to stay in a different area this time.

A) What is the closest building to the Main Hall/cafeteria area other than preferred?

B) Is it worth the extra money to stay in the 60's?

C) What can I say to the receptionist over the phone to give myself the best chance at getting all my requests?

We stayed on the third floor facing a wooded area next to the furthest doors from the food court (the ones where you could drive up and drop off luggage). Like I said, we overlooked woods and were right around the corner from the main building. Noise was not a problem, and it only took a minute or two to walk to the main building and busses. It was a standard room at the time (sping '05). I don't think I would pay the extra money for prefered. It all seems pretty good to me. I am not sure what you need to say to the receptionist ahead of time, you may have to wait until you check in to ask about room location. But I don't know. Have fun. Wish it was me!

I stayed in the 70s and that wasn't too bad. Had a side view of the lake from my room and we were a five minute walk to the lobby. I have also stayed in 90s and that was a five minute walk too, if you cut through the parking lot to the main building.

I stayed in the 70s and my room was considered a preferred room since it was less than 500 feet from the Main Building. I was facing the woods and right next to the food court and it was a great location. Pop Century is laid out pretty well. I wouldn't really consider any of the rooms that far from the main building compared to the way the All Stars are laid out.

We stayed in the back of 50's facing the lake and the parking lot.
For the next trip, DW wants to stay closer. My criteria is the top floor, so no noise above us. I'm thinking/hoping we'll end up with 70's.
Personally, I believe you're looking at a difference of no more than a 4 minute walk.
But, late at night if you've got a kid to carry, that 4 minutes can seem like 20. This I know.
I'd put the most effort into being very nice to the castmember checking you in.
That would be the last point where any change to a better location could be made without extra $ and they have the power to do it based on availability at the time. Be very nice.

I've stayed a Pop several times and always in the 70s section. I'm super sensitive to noise, so I don't like to stay near the pools. Also, if you stay in the 70s building with the giant Big Wheel icon, then you can go out the back, cross the parking lot, and be at the bus stop in just a few minutes.

ive stayed there b4. ask to stay in the 60's section but make sure it faces the parking lot. facing the pool gets very noisy. even at 3 am theres still ppl and a bunch of little kids in the pool. as long as u face the parking lot you will be fine. my room faced the pool and i had to cover my ears w/ pillow when trying to sleep.

Let me be of some assistance...

First, remember that the locations of the Preferred Rooms have changed. Currently, any room in the two 60's buildings, and select rooms in the 50's and 70's buildings are now considered Preferred. Basically preferred including any room near the Main Hall where you find most of the resorts amenities.

The cost difference between Preferred and Standard Rooms at a Value Resort is only $12 per night (plus taxes), regardless of season or discount promotion.

If you have any preference of where you would like to stay, simply ask for it at the time of booking. Remember, we at the Reservation Center will note your request, but your room assignment is done by the Resort itself on the morning of your arrival date, or possibly the evening before. The resort will always do their best to honor any requests you have made, but it will be based on which rooms are available on the date you are scheduled to arrive.

Please keep in mind, you must be booked in a Preferred Room to ask for a room close to the Main Hall, this request will not be considered by the Resort if you are booked in a standard room.

We stayed at Pop in May and I considered paying the upcharge to be near the lobby, but ultimately decided not to. Once we got there, we were given a room in the 80's and it was fine. Maybe 5 minutes (if we were really dragging after a long day in the parks) is all it took to walk to our room. The layout of the resort is pretty good, so nothing seems to be too far. I wouldn't recommend paying for a close room - I'd save the money for more souvenirs!!!:lol:

Most rooms are fairly close to the main hall, esp compared to all-star.

Preferred are VERY far from parking though. If you are driving, you might not want a preferred room -- it can be a real hassle going through the main hall just to get back to your room each time.

AGREED! I was so ticked off when I paid extra for a preferred room and it turnde out to be LESS conveinient because I had a vehicle and there was no short way to get to the room when loading/unloading luggage. This is also one of the reasons I don't stay in value resorts anymore - the bell staff there not too quick to help with luggage and all.
