Pop or CSR?

Hello,

I am planning a trip to Disney World May 2019, we are deciding between a room at Pop century and Coronado springs resort. They are both the same price with a dining plan except I get a $200 gift card with CSR. I know there is construction at CSR, will it still be extensive by may 2019? Also will the construction of the gondola transport still be ongoing too? Which would you pick?

Thank you for any advice.

Are you sure you're comparing apples to apples? Even with the construction, getting CSR for the same price as Pop seems odd. If that's really the case, DEFINITELY go that route.

CSR for the same price as POP plus a $200 gift card. Wow! How did you score that? I have stayed at both resorts, most recently at the CSR this past December. Both are nice but the CSR is the better choice IMHO. Construction did not impact us at all during our stay.

Did you mean CBR instead of CSR? I only ask since you asked about the gondola construction, which is happening at CBR not CSR. I'm also curious how you scored a $200 gc from CSR. I've stayed there twice since September and only got a trio of pins each time. The construction did not impact our vacations at all, but I don't know if something major is happening there next year (maybe the lobby?).

Its definitely CSR, I know pop century is a value but I thought it might be better with the refurbished rooms and less construction than CSR. The offer is from the uk disneyworld site based on two adults in a room.
CSR + (free dining) for 14 nights = £2436 + you get a $200 gift card
Pop + (free breakfast) for 14 nights = £1736 + paying £700 extra for qs dining plan = £2436 (no gift card)
I've stayed at pop before, I suppose its tempting to stick with whats familiar but it sounds like CSR is the winner.

CSR is our least favorite Disney resort (not including All Stars) for what it is worth. And, probably the only Disney resort I would not return to. Food Court is limited, bus service is awful, it is very large and spread out, and has a more convention/non Disney resort feel. With 50+ on site stays under our belt our stay at CSR was the only time, and only time I even came close to feeling the need to write an email about our experience I would still take Pop over CSR, but probably just a preference, and our stay definitely could have been a fluke.

In researching where to stay over the years, those comments you posted were a common theme. So much so, I've largely take CSR off the list of potential resorts to stay at. The bus service can be aggrevating in its own right, and my thinking is why make it feel even worse by staying at a resort that people complained about the service to begin with. I'm sure its a fine resort, and I've see many people write very positive things about their stay, but for me, I don't think its a good fit.

We've actually just changed our reservation from CSR to POR for our trip in October. I'd been pondering a change anyway, and when I had the email come through about the main pool area being refurbed whilst we're there that was the final push. We got moved from a standard room at CSR to a Royal Guest room with garden view at POR for no extra charge so we're happy.

I agree some might think its just fine, and it's possible we just had a bad experience however we were at Bus Stops multiple times and Busses that were full from the front were just driving by us, and since they come so infrequently it was a common trend. We have stayed at other large and multiple bus stop resorts (OKW is our home DVC resort) and never had that problem.

Most if not all of the CSR rooms have been refurbished already and if any aren't yet I'm certain they will be finished by 2019.

I've stayed at CSR four times over the last few years and it's my favorite moderate resort. I have always experienced excellent bus service and enjoyed the amenities. That said, in its current state some areas are quite a long walk from the main building. We stayed in Ranchos in February and rode the theme park buses to get to the main building more than once to avoid the long, hot walk. Other than making some walks longer, the construction didn't bother me too much. I was only bothered by the conventioneer once when, at 11:20am, apparently every single convention meeting let out and every single conventioneer seemed to flood Pepper Market at once.

I don't believe that's the case. Here's a post from @Buzz2001 last month:

For standard rooms, only cabana 8a, rancho 7a and casita 4 are complete. The preferred buildings, casita 1, 2, and 3, are done as well. casita 5 and rancho 6a are closed and being worked on

So six buildings are complete and two are being worked on and therefore not available to guests. That sounds like a pretty good shot at a refurbished room.

Oh I don't entirely disagree for a May 2019 trip. Just noting that Ranchos 6B, 7B and Cabanas 8B, 9A and 9B are still need doing. So six done, two currently in progress, five to go.
