Pop Music at MGM

Ya know, I was really disturbed the last time I went at MGM. In the area around that darn hat, they play the disney channel stars versions of disney songs. Not that they're bad or anything, but it really destroyed the MGM theme and feeling. You have the hollywood recreations around you, yet they're playing pop music. Not to mention, it clashed badly with the GMR movie music, so you'd have a loud battle of the music styles: Rocketeer theme vs. Raven. Anyone else dislike this?

Well I do not "Dislike" it so much as to say that I think that they should have better versions of the songs. I have heard Hilary Duff sing the Tiki Room and let me just say, SHE SUCKS! I would say that is they want these artists to give Classic Disney songs a new twist that is fine, but you have to make sure that the songs still keeps that "Classic" Feel. I think taht with everything Disney...change will happen. We must be open to challenge and change. We can not always agree with what is going on, but if you look into why things are being done, then maybe, just maybe it will make sense. So I guess I do like how the music is more modern with new artists.

They play the classics as well as the "pop" versions. I like some of the pop versions, but I honestly haven't heard them as much.

i think maybe you spent to much time listening to the music and not enough having fun with your family i never even noticed what was playing.

At least they aren't playing pop songs that have nothing to do with Disney. Disney songs are still Disney songs. I wish they would play different selections, but it doesn't bother me alot. It''s not like walking through USF where you'll hear Top 40 songs. I really wish USF would play movie score as their area loops, but oh well.

personaly I dont think that any of them have talent at acting or singing. Their cute faces get them by but in a few years they will be history. (hopefully hillary duff sooner than later, she drives me nuts.) but to answer your question it doesnt really bother me. it sort of gives it an upbeat feeling. Although I dont think I could stand to hear it everyday of every year!

I guess I'm with the Original Poster, and I'm surprised more of you aren't also. People on here are ALWAYS critiquing bad show and poor theming, and this is what I would consider an excellent example of these.

There may be more appropriate area in MGM to play pop music, like maybe by the Millionaire show and Sounds Dangerous - beacuse those are more modern type attractions, but if they're playing pop music right in the middle of "Hollywood from the early 1900s", then I would consider that poor placement of this specific music. This would be exactly like if they played this pop music on Main Street in the MK - it wouldn't fit. I walk into MGM and am "magically" transported back to early Hollywood....but if I hear Hillary Duff botching some already bad song, I'm going to struggle imagining where I am.

Even though I'm not super upset about it, I can agree with these points too. I wish they would just keep the GMR loop as the dominant theme.

That's a good point, but that HUGE FREAKIN' SORCERER'S HAT is also a very good killer of the early 1900s theme, so the music isn't necasarily (I suck at spelling) a novel concept in theme killing.

Hahaha. Indeed. Delete the stupid hat. Bring back 1920's era music!

Disney and real Rap music go together about as well as listening to Air Supply on your way to a Metallica concert.

OMG that song was TERRIBLE! I saw it on one of the specials ABC aired from Disneyland to kick off the new celebration. Ugh, it horrified me so much I changed the channel!

I thought they just played that music before during and after the characters are around the hat. I was just there in August and def heard some classic Hollywood movie scores, my favorite being My Fair Lady...oh and btw does anyone know of any place where I can get the MGM area music I know in addition to My Fair Lady, there is The Trolley song from meet me in St. Louis amoung others

I'd like to hear 50 Cent do a version of When You Wish Upon A Star.
