Hey, WDWFREAK53, we disagree on something here... I think the carpet ride is cool. I think having another Dumbo ride is bad, but the ride on it's own is good. Aladdin was long overdue for something, it propably should have gotten a dark ride though, like Peter Pan, only with the carpets from the new ride on a track overhead (still being able to move up and down and side to side). Anyway, I can tolerate the carpet ride, and since they rethemed the Adventureland shops and Iago is in the Tiki Room it all fits O.K.

Pop Century will open sometime next year.

And I disagree - Pop and the All-Star Resorts do not cheapen the World.

In fact, they make WDW more accessible to people. Instead of having to stay at the Poly or WL for about $300 a night, they can stay at an on-property hotel for $70 bucks a night. I for one would not have been able to go to Disney as often as I have, if I did not use the Value resorts. Hence more family's can afford to go to Disney. Additionally, Disney offers a resort to hotel to these guests and does not lose the money to off-site hotels in Kissimmee, etc. They are building the POP because, the other hotels are getting very crowded even during non-peak seasons. They need to space the guests out more, and I think I heard they will be actually limiting the number of rooms they sell at each Value Resort, to space the guests out more.

I didn't mean that I don't AGREE with the concept of the VALUE resorts...THEY ARE EYESORES THOUGH!!! I mean come on...a GIANT COCA COLA CUP??? A GIANT FIREHYDRANT??? HUGE BOWLING PINS!!! "Whazzup" plastered in HUGE letters??? You actually think that these things beautify WDW???

I dont't think they cheapen the world. Sometimes people want to Stay on Disney property, but just dont make enough or warrant the idea of spending $200 a night. Why spend that amount when you have 3-4 kids and spend your whole day in the parks and only sleep in the room.

They are a good value for the money. Just like staying at a DAys inn, but its on Disney property. I am not for being Politically correct or anything like that. But have tolerence for people who make less money that you, thats all. Its All Disney, and Its All
Good.

To each their own.

Besides, if you are staying at any other Disney hotel, you shouldn't see them anyway. Many of the buses do not pass those hotels on the way to the parks.

I'm neutral on liking or hating them ( I just prefer to stay at the "other" resorts), but I am curious... how close is Pop to CBR. I'm staying at CBR in Nov. From the maps, it looks like you would see Pop from the CBR, but the maps are never to scale anyway.

Whoa whoa whoa...hold up here a minute...

I NEVER scoffed at anyone "who doesn't make as much money as me." First of all, I have stayed at the All-Star Movies and I wasn't all that impressed...not because I thought it was "cheap" and "not up to my standards" I didn't feel "Disney magic" while I was there.

I have said this before...I LOVE THE CONCEPT OF VALUE RESORTS because I can go more often and still stay ON property! I don't like the "let's throw a bunch of big things together" feel to them. A value resort could've EASILY been themed to something like one of their OTHER AMAZING resorts.

Ok, now for you Spidey :)
I didn't mean that I thought Aladdin was cheap and doesn't belong...I meant EXACTLY what you said (should've worded it differently) Aladdin was a great movie, (one of their best in my eyes) and it gets a DUMBO CLONE! I at first HATED the thought of the bright colors in Adventureland, but, since the addition of Agrabah, it fits in. A nice attraction would've been MUCH better...Aladdin looks like an afterthought now.

Well...that's what happens when you word things the wrong way :)

What do you think about the Values??? Do you think they are "attractive" and "beautify" WDW?

WDWFREAK53,

I'm curious, do you have any kids? My 9 year old son loves the giant Coke cans, footballs etc.

If it cost $300 a night to stay in the All Star Resorts, I would still stay there, because I go to Disney World so my son can have a fun, kid experience. We can stay in a nice hotel anywhere in the world, but I've never been any place that is as fun for kids as the All Stars.

Nope, don't have kids...yet...

Everybody...this is just an OPINION of mine!
Really...does MY OPINION MEAN ANYTHING??? Is Disney gonna rip down the All-Stars because I PERSONALLY don't LIKE THEM??? NOPE! I agree that the Value resorts should be "themed" more towards kids, don't get me wrong! The majority of people staying in the Value resorts are young families...and I do have to say that I like the concept (especially the movies) but I'm just not fond of the TOWERING TACKY BOWLING PINS and Giant "stairwell" housings.

If you would spend $300 a night...then great...it's your money and your choice and your OPINION of the resort. I PERSONALLY would not stay there for $300 a night.

...but...

I would stay there again if I was to book a quick trip...because the price is right...(and that's why I like the CONCEPT)

I agree. They are for the kids. I stayed at All Star Movies last year and Port Orleans Riverside this year. I really did not enjoy ASM, mostly because it was so far from everything and there were kids everywhere.

POR seemed much nicer and more adult. There were fewer kids and a sit down restaraunt in addition to the food court. I enjoyed staying there.

That being said, I don't have kids, and the kids at ASM seemed to really enjoy it. Much the same as they seem to enjoy the Toon Town Fair, while I don't bother with it.

You just can't please everyone, but the All Star resorts seem to serve their purpose well, regardless of their appearance.

I should've worded it like that to begin with :)

WDWFREAK53,

Relax, I'm not trying to come down on you, but I guessed from your comments that you didn't have kids. If I didn't have kids I would probably feel the same way.

I think if you ever get the chance to take a four year old and see the look on their face when they see the giant Buzz Lightyear, you'll be a convert.
