Pop Century questions!

We will be staying at the Pop from 9/10 to 9/18, just my DH and myself.
Can anyone tell me what we need to take with us? Does Pop supply blow dryers, shampoos etc.? Trying to cut down on what we need to take with us to stay under airline weight limit.

Shampoo/conditioner, and facial and body soap. There is a hair dryer mounted on the wall next to the sink.

I use to pack all toiletries but seriously Disney things are great. As long as you dont mind, all you need is lotion and what other things you may need.

LOVE Pop bsmartin2000! :sohappy: We will be staying there for our fourth time next March when we head back to WDW. And as disney4life2008 said, the Disney soaps and that aren't actually that bad really.

tehy have it all, if its just a place to sleep. But the food court and bars are lackluster, and transportation is tough because its a cattle herd lin to get on. rooms are noisy. more than you asked, but just warning you.

Really? I think the Pop food court is one of the best counter service places on property. And the transportation at Pop isn't that bad, unless you're traveling at a peak time (open/close of a park) but that's tough on any of the hotels.

Its funny to hear other peoples perspectives on POP. I severely disagree! POP has the best food court!! No different than typical disney food but def delicious!! Transportation is a cattle heard whereever you stay at - the benefit of POP is that it has its own transportation. You will love it!!

I love the fact that the Pop buses actually have queues. At other resorts, people just sit on benches, and when a bus pulled up, it was a mass conversion of people all trying to be the first on the bus. I much prefer the organization of the Pop buses.

A note about the resort shampoos. This may or may not bother you, but they only give you the combined shampoo/condition. It's not separate. Not a huge deal for a lot of people, but I like separate shampoo and conditioner. So, I bring my own and the resort shampoo/conditioner gets put in my bag to give out as gifts to people back home.

I agree with you, I've never had a problem with POP and I thought the food court is pretty good. I've never stayed at another Disney Resort on property, but I would assume unless you're staying on a monorail line hotel or one with a water taxi, Transportation's going to be pretty rough any place you stay.

Me too. I've never had a problem at POP. It is the best Value resort. Ask to stay in the 60's bldg facing the lake.

We have stayed at POP 3 times now and staying again in December, and of all of the value resorts, it is my favorite. The food court has a really good variety and the food is great IMO.

POP rocks. The food court is awesome. If there is a down side to the bus system it would be that it's usually the farthest stop away at the parks since it was the most recent addition. I personally think the shop inside is smaller than the All Stars, but thats just my personal opinion. Other than that enjoy!

We have stayed at Pop many times and here are my observations - 1. Bus transportation is better than most other resorts. Moderates like PO, CB, etc have multiple stops within the resort. Seems like we were always the last stop! Years ago it seemed like we enjoyed fantastic bus service at the WL - thought that came with the price. Well, it's got alot slower over the years. Pop seems to have much more punctual bus service than anywhere else.

Food court is extensive but unlike other properties you can't buy certain "make yourself" food. Many resorts have lunch meat, bread and more - Pop does not. So, unless you have a car to go to Publix...

Don't stay all the way back by the lake. It it too far from the main building, too far from the bus stop. I guess I just don't like walking a mile in the morning for coffee or to catch a bus. We do enough of that in the park.

It's still Disney and on the "Magic" scale I give it a 5. You get a different experience where ever you stay.

At WL in the back of the Mercantile shop are all kinds of make your own food. Deli meat, PB&J, soups, loaves of bread, micro-wave meals, variety of chips, Entenmann Doughnuts etc. I've seen this at the Deluxe and Moderate Resorts.

Pop only has slices of bread, 2 or 3 chips, and they have done away with the Entenmann's we used to buy.

I'm not saying it's a grocery store in these shops but there is certainly a great deal more variety and availability of these items at the Mods and Deluxe. We always drive (Ohio) so going to Publix is an option. We spend more time at WDW than most (50 to 60 days per year) so the food options are more of a concern to us.

The WL Mercantile is there to service the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge, a DVC resort - as their rooms have kitchens in them. I've also seen this variety at the Beach Club marketplace (for the Beach Club Villas) and Saratoga Springs.

Which mods have you seen this at?

I personally bring my own shampoo and conditioner, the Disney resorts all have it, but my hair doesn't feel conditioned at all and is hard to brush through afterwards. I'd at least bring conditioner with you. Also, they give you soap, and it's great for washing my hands, but I go to walmart and buy a travel size of soap that I like (their soap makes my skin dry). You're staying 8 days you really don't want to be stuck using stuff you don't like.

Yep - POP has basic toiletries as well as hair dryers.
POP doesn't have to share w/ any other resort, so the bus transporation there is usually pretty smooth. :wave:
