Pop Century conversion to Art of Animation?

Since the original concept of the Pop Century Resort only saw 50% of it's completion (the Classic Years), and the unbuilt (Legendary Years) portion being finished as the Art of Animation Resort, it seems to reason that when it's time for Pop to be rehabbed, it would only make sense that it be converted to Art of Animation. The only other alternative would be to take half of the Classic Years buildings and retheme them to the Legendary Years (to make it true to its name).

I had been saying something along these lines back when the new resort was announced. Disney has said that Pop will remain what it is, but I think that in time it will be switched over. I think that the appeal of animation at that level will just be too much for Disney to not convert the resort.

While I could see them changing Pop I have my doubts that it will happen. It the resort maintains a high enough occupancy rate after AoA opens there is no financial reason to change it. Right now many people want to book AoA because it is new and interesting and they are paying a premium to do so. I have a feeling that once the shine wears off and the reviews come in it will maintain an occupancy rate comparable to the other values.

Agreed. I can't see Disney re-theming a very popular resort anytime in the near future just because it's thematically incomplete.

If that were the case, the Mighty Ducks wouldn't still be all over Movies, and other things would've been fixed long ago. I don't see this as anything close to a priority, nor should it be.

I fully expect that Pop Century will be rethemed into other mini themes to further extend the Art of Animation Resort - I can only assume that they're waiting to make sure that the new suites work out well.

Not old, just vintage.
They better not touch Pop Century! I like it the way it is and it is by far my favorite Value resort. Unless occupancy rates plummet and never come back up I can't see Disney justifying spending millions of dollars to convert Pop. That money could be better spend elsewhere. I am just concerned that Pop and Art of Animation are going to end up sharing a bus. What I like most about Pop is the solo bus situation. Since AoA is going to have so many rooms one can hope that maybe it will have its own bus. *fingers crossed*

Disney can easily continue with Pop as it is by simply saying it represents the Pop portion of the century.

That said, sharing buses wouldn't likely happen, the current resort is pretty much at capacity.

They already know the suites are going to work out well. They're incredibly popular at Music.

This topic seems to be based on blind speculation. I don't see the business sense in spending such a large amount of money on a resort re-theme when the resort doesn't seem to present a demand for change at all.

Simple solution: rename the Pop Century side to Pop Art. No major redecoration required and the two sister resorts thematically linked. :)

I'm happy with the way Pop is and like staying there. However, 50's could be changed to Lady and the Tramp area, and 60's to Jungle Book very easily.

If you stay at Pop after AoA is open ,will these two share facilities (pools, eateries, not busses I hope)? I assume the bridge will remain.

The only thing I hate is that they didnt complete it and now it needs the right name. Like Pop culture resort, or the classic years...or add classic years to Pop Century resort name

idk something but keep the resort! I stayed there 2 times and loved it

I too worry about the bus issue. After staying at several different deluxe resorts that shared buses I wouldn't be surprised to see these two resorts sharing buses...maybe not early mornings and late nights during busy seasons...but throughout the day I'm preparing for it.

They won't be changing anything. Pop stays pretty booked most of the time anyway. Why would they even bother? I think that the most they would do would be to remove the decades. It would still be Pop Century but the missing decades wouldn't be thrown in peoples faces. And I doubt they will do even this little bit until they see a reason to do so. Maybe during the next Pop Century refurb, but not anytime soon.

I think that initially the resorts will share buses but as soon as Disney sees that as the mistake it will be then I expect that they will dedicate separate buses to AoA. The whole resort runs on a loop much like the All Stars but AoA has a more direct exit to Victory Way while Pop is on the back end of Century Drive.
