Hi Josh! I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and the first thing they did was give me a valium, then they put an IV in with stuff to make me sleep...I slept through the whole thing....It was great! The only bummer was it was a few days before Thansgiving...and I had a problem with the healing, so I had to have cotton with this nasty stuff in all through the Thansgiving holidays...THAT was the WORST! LOL!
Best of luck to you!

Oh..they knocked me out...that wasnt the problem...

The immense PAIN for the 3 days following was unbearable. I resorted to hitting my head against a wall because it eased the pain in my mouth (You can tell it has effected my thinking process perminatly)....not to mention I was spitting blood for a few days as well..not pretty...

Josh, you'll be fine. I had all of mine pulled and although it was uncomfortable it wasn't all that bad. Hang in there and good luck!!

Of course, now that I've heard Now's story I am developing a fear of having any form of dental work done.... :(

Lol yeah they fixed my cross bite and I was supposed to wear the reatiner but I eventually stopped wearing it and my teeth kind of spread out but thats not what the braces were fro anyways. I always hated having those mold things done of my mouth! I had em done alot too b/c i constantly broke my retainer! lol

WHOA - someone must have designated January to be "get your wisdom teeth out month" - i got mine out last Wednesday!!! They knocked me out really good though - i was talking and laughing the one minute, and out the next. they hooked me up to an EKG machine, and the stuck an IV needle in my arm, and a blood pressure monitor on my other arm. The EKG machine was beating really fast before they knocked me out, lol (well at least is WAS beeping;)). I also had novocaine as well. Tig, I guess I had the same sedation you had - I slept through the whole thing too!

I've been on a steady diet of Jell-o and soup for the past couple of days, and I started eating real food tonight. I didn't swell up like a balloon either - those ice packs are really good. And I'm getting my stitches out on Wednesday! :sohappy:

Josh - i had my braces on for almost 5 years as well. every time i went to the orthodontist i'd ask him when i would be getting mine out, and he'd say "oh its gonna be a couple more months" - this lasted for about a YEAR! i finally got them out last February.

wisdom teeth?.......labor?.......wisdom teeth?..........labor?
All of mine had to be broken and I felt everything. It was as bad as labor only I couldn't get an epidurel for my head. Would I do it again? Only if I could go in the hospital and be put in a drug induced coma for three days. Percocets do not work for me. As well as most narcotics, so if the pain doesn't subside get your mom to call the doc and try something else. Good Luck and let us know how you made out.
