None taken - although technically I'm a Scot I'm still a big Winnie the Pooh fan. Have you tried actually reading the books rather than relying on the Disney version - much more subtle and plenty of grown up humour if you look for it!

Oh, you have my support. I suppose I should have said that I dislike the Disney treatment of Pooh. The ride and all the movies do not depict Pooh as do the original books. IMO the Toad ride was far superior in this regard. But, I'm just a yank don't ya know. And by the way, do ya know about Scotish Alzheimer's disease? They forget about everything but the grudges!

I just can't get past the cardboard cut-outs...I mean...Primeval Whirl has cardboard cut-outs and people call it cheap. I realize it was supposed to be like pages from a book...but it just looked cheap to me...I like three-dimensional rides...and as for Snow White, I'd like a little less witch and a little more white...they should call it The Wicked Witch's Adventures, as is...

I don't think Snow White should ever be taken away from DW, its a classic, we anyone consider the film version being wiped I don't think so and it is equally as scary. I have three children, its up to parents to know what thier child can cope with. I've seen children crying before they even get on some rides and their parents are so selfish they take them on anyway.

Of all the rides in fantasyland toad was my favorite. Snow white is probably my least favorite. If they redid it they could make it much better. all the characters are like cardboard cutouts. I know what every one means about pooh selling more merchandise than toad though. And we know that is what it is all about. The almighty dollar.

The way I see it, rides like Peter Pan, Snow White, and Pooh are basically the same ride but with a different theme. How can one be crap and not the others? Last time I was there, we walked by Pooh but I don't think anyone cared to ride it. I'll have to try it next time.

The ride originally did not have snow white at all...it was to give you the ride/experience as if YOU were snow white.

They recently redid Snow White...not sure how this makes it a classic. What makes Pooh and Peter Pan better, in my mind, is the ride vehicles and that they spent more money on both of them. This became very apparent to me as the alligator toward the end is JUST A HEAD...he came out a little too far and I saw this. If you don't believe that most people find Peter and Pooh better, go down to the Magic Kingdom any weekend and compare wait times...

The world's first full length animated feature, Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Academy award Winner 1937.
Magic Kingdom opened 1971 featuring the Snow White ride.
I think the importance Walt Placed on this Story makes this ride as much as a classic as any other.

my definition of a classic doesn't involve a ride needing to be completely redone with a name change and still having 10 minute waits during peak season. Basing a ride on an amazing movie does not automatically make the ride a classic. The movie is a classic. The ride is unpopular.

Make a "Disney's Princesses" ride, give a scene to Ariel, Belle, Aurora, Snow White, and Jasmine, at the end, have them unite to defeat all of their respective villains, who have trapped their true loves.. (Not sure how they would defeat em' haven't thought through this all the way...Razor Compacts? Purses filled with lead? I'll think up some kind of weapon...) Big dance sequence in the end, happy, happy, happy...

This would please just about everyone...Includes Snow White, Makes the ride less scary and more enjoyable for children, better, more modern effects, and Disney has a better market to push their oh-so-popular princess line of accesories/toys

I'd like that. They could, however, just have one "master villain"...I'd like Maleficent to be it. She could kidnap all the Princes, and the final scene would involve guests getting in on the action, with "magic wands" that shoot at the dragon. Audio-Animatronics of the princesses would, of course, be fighting too.

Well, basically Pirates of the Caribbean and It's a Small World are the same ride, and Dr. Doom's FearFall is almost Tower or Terror, but it's not the mechanism that counts in Disney, but the theming of the ride. Children want to see Peter Pan and fly in a ship, and they also like to see Pooh riding a honey jar, but they won't find any similarity between them since it's totally different prepared, althought they use the same technique in both rides.
Personally, I think that mosts rides are what they are because of the theming and not their originality, if not nobody would go to the Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth since the mechanism of the ride involves very similar movements of the cars. Maybe it's too far-fetched but is basically what you were proposing.

Dr. Dooms Fear Fall != ToT

They may have the same concept, but they are completely different beasts. A better comparison would be Dr. Doom and The Maliboomer at DCA.

Yes, I know I was analizing similar mechanisms used for the rides, and showing how something as Dr. Doom can turn to ToT with a perfect theme for it.
Thanks to the rest for the back up! :)
