Poncho Up, Find a Plug and Keep On Havin' Fun Trip Report

Hello, everybody! I guess I’ll start my report. Just to recap from my pre-trip report, I’m Jennifer. My hubby is Lance and two boys are Cameron and Wyatt. Our trip started on Wednesday, June 5th, the last day of school, and we got back on Thursday, June 13th.

I guess I’ll start on Tuesday the 4th. Although I normally get to bed before 10p, I was up ‘til 11 and woke up on the 5th at 3a. My mind wouldn’t calm down. So, we dropped Annabelle off at the Happy Mailman, got the kids off to school and ran a couple last minute errands.

Lance and I packed and ended up needing our really large suitcase and a normal sized suitcase, making sure our super duper sized suitcase was less than 50 lbs. without forgetting anything (ha!). We cleaned, since our neighbor was cat sitting, and left the house to pick up the boys 2.5 hours before the final bell. They were OK missing out on their last little bit of class time. We picked up our older son lunch and made it to the FastPark lot.

We got to the airport, through security and waited for the plane.

Our flight was good

but a little turbulent on the way down.

We got our bags and headed to Magical Express. We quickly got on our bus. Coronado Springs was the first stop – whooo hooo! We were checked in by a CM from France (I kept getting him to talk.) and were placed in Casitas. We wanted to be near the Dig Site and were relocated to Ranchos 7A.

Since it was past dinner time, we dropped off our bags and walked back for a chicken caesar wrap for me, hot dogs for the boys and a burger for Lance at Café Rix (no pics).

We mulled over our plans with the tropical storm and decided to make a final decision in the morning when we saw what they expected the effects to be.

I hope the pictures look OK and are sized well and hope you enjoy reading.

Oh, how could I forget this, too?! Midafternoon, we did an Agent P Adventure in UK. It was raining, and British Revolution started playing. Needless to say, it wasn't one of our brightest ideas, but it was cute.
Did the boys like the Agent P Adventure? I am thinking about trying it next year with my three. They got bored in World Showcase last time, but my husband really enjoys it, so I thought that might be a good way to keep them interested a little longer!

They liked it alot. I didn't get to hold the flip phone:rolleyes: , so I can't speak as to how easy it is to use. @Sumrdog did it with her family, so she may be a better reviewer. We didn't have a lot of sun, so seeing the screen was easy to see.

I agree that people talking through attractions is obnoxious...and I like AA- sang Golden Dream for something way back when and am always moved by it- so I probably would have been boiling. Yeah, choir geek here who gets really ticked off at such stuff. ;)

Love that you were able to get a railing spot so close to the time of Illuminations. The food at 50s also looked GREAT! :)

Yes Agent P would've been super fun if we had done it at night when it wasn't 100 degrees out. It was really neat and pretty easy. But in the bright sun we couldn't really see the flip phone.

We need time for things to happen.
I don't know how I missed this!
I got caught up just in time.

You've got a wonderful family!
Your little dudes are cute as all get out!

Thanks for the review on the new UK band I'm going to miss the British Invasion
but it sounds like we're still in for a treat.

For the record - Great job on the Pics :)

Now, this is completely embarrassing. I'm looking through my pictures, and I see the second of three Disney character meet & greets we did - Phineas and Ferb. I totally left out part of our story. This trip reporting is harder than I thought. Props to you multi-reporters.

So, on Monday between having butterfinger cupcake and grabbing the TSMM! fastpasses for late evening, we stood in line for P&F time. It was a long line, but they were as fun as Chip & Dale. Rude, unattentive moms and obnoxious children comments will be kept to myself. Our turn - Ferb pointed to Lance's birthday button and held up two fingers on one hand and one on the other. Interpretting for him, I told Lance, "He's asking if your now 21." Chuckle from Lance. The boys had fun with the boys. We forgot to get a picture with Ducky Momo.

Disney does a great job of hiding queue lines. We started at the entrance for Muppet Vision 3D and realized it went all the way in back of the theater and snaked around for a while. Oh, joy! But I got to see their spoof movie posters.

My favorite.

There's just not enough time to enjoy all the stuff they have in the pre-show area. We got to see the net full of jello and paid homage.

Now, I think we're done.

oooooooh how I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Beaker :D I think backtracking is just a part of most trip reports. I mean, I try and take pictures of anything and everything to help me remember the exact details of the day in order, but that sometimes gets turned upside down and sideways if Flickr does strange things to my uploads. So, if anything...I think everyone totally understands the backtracking, had probably had to backtrack as well, and just loves having interesting things to see and read. :) OK- I'm sounding like a motivational coach... I need to zip it ;)

You don't need to "zip it." :D You'd be a great motivational coach.

Actually, two things I've thought about for our next trip (whenever that might be). We need to get the little fans that we can hang around our necks, and I've got a small tape recorder I used in college. That would be the perfect way to easily document what we do in what order and when.

I LOVE Beaker, too. Loved him since The Muppet Show.

Will your phone let you record voice or text notes for yourself? Even better if it will do talk to text notes.

We've been in June, July and August and fared well, but it may be the higher humidity level in Houston or possibly my years living in FL. I also have some tricks that I've found really help for hot weather trips...some more out there than others. Wearing a baseball cap during the day, wearing well vented clothing, and wearing walking sandals or walking flip flops have made a world of difference for me. The oddball trick...mint. For whatever reason...peppermint oil cools me off. I've dabbed it on my neck and it tends to have some cooling properties. Not saying we don't get hot, but there's tolerable hot and miserable hot.

Yes, it does. That is a good option! But I just remembered about the rain. Electronics and rain don't mix.

We wore caps often and had cooling bandanas that helped ALOT. Mint. Thanks!

Wednesday, June 12th

My notes and pictures have been checked. We’re ready to roll for our last Park day. It’s a long one.

After a little time on the balcony to watch the animals on the savannah, it was time to start the day.

If my memory serves, it didn’t rain at all this day. Just like the rest of the sunny time, it was hot. It was hot early. It was humid.

The line wasn’t too bad when we got out to the MK bus stop, but we had a long wait. The first bus was pretty full from Kidani. Some people were able to get on, but we had to wait for a second bus. The family in front of us joked with us about if we jump up when we see a bus coming around the corner, it will make it be our MK bus. It worked.

Funny thing, when the bus pulled up, a couple teenage girls sauntered up like there wasn’t any line. They were quickly corrected by practically everybody. We chuckled.

We got to MK a little later than I hoped, but we got there right at 9am. We went left into Adventureland this time, getting fastpasses for BTMRR. We quickly got in line for Splash.

Splash was the very accurate description for it. All four of us got soaked. Fully soaked. Totally soaked, and on the curve around, we got log jammed just where the waterfall is. Additional soakage. I got water in my ear, but we slushed back to BTMRR. I wanted to get to First Aid to see if they could help with the water in my ear, but not before we hit up the JC fastpass line and rode PoC again.

We saw another photog near Crystal Palace with a prop this time – the picture frame. While the guys were in line, I stopped by First Aid. The nurse said they don’t have any rubbing alcohol or Swimmer’s Ear. What?! Nobody else gets water in his/her ears? Oh, well. We got a few pics and magic shots and pressed on (still soaking wet). Lance had wicking shorts on and dried fairly quickly. I, on the other hand, was down to my denim shorts. They stayed wet the whole day. We did our Jungle Cruise and noted the times for the Pirates’ Tutorial (although we never made it back for one). The Park was starting to get pretty busy.

Walking back through Frontierland, we listened to a little music.

Lance ran to get fastpasses for Pan (return time 4:30pm already), while we got in line for HM. After another ghoulish experience, we decided on Columbia Harbour House for lunch. Cameron wasn’t excited about the selections but agreed to it. I found a plug at the table they found upstairs.

Lance and Cameron had (I think) the fish platter, Wyatt had his pb&j, and I had the garden harvest salad.

The new Tangled spot is SO cute. LOVE it, but I didn’t think to go into the bathroom. D’oh!

The sun was on overdrive. It was really hot.

We decided to spend more time in Tomorrowland. After looking at all the wait times, wishing for a good downpour to clear the Park, we decided on the (ha!) 30 minute wait for the Laugh Floor. 30 minutes… rrrriiiiiiiiiiiiight.

The boys enjoyed it. Sam and Ella were different this time. Sam was the tall English accented one. Interest how they switch them up. Fortunately, everyone laughed enough to have the energy for the doors to open at the end. Phew!

Stitch again. The boys like Stitch. Afterwards, we were at a loss for what to do. It was snack time, and the cookies we saved from the kids’ CHH lunches weren’t enough. Oh, yeah, it was sweet cream cheese Mickey pretzel time. I could have sworn I took a pic of it, but maybe Lance did on his phone. It was the first one I had ever had. I could have eaten two more. by myself. But we had BIG dinner plans.

Another round of Buzz, and we could get fastpasses for it by now. It was almost 3pm, and we were most of the way across the Park from where I needed to be to meet @MouseDreaming and @figmentfan423. We walked swiftly to the hub but found the direct route to Liberty Square roped off. Easy! Detour through Adventureland and cut through to Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe.

We found ourselves outside the shop’s front door and I realized I have NO idea what Mouse and figgy look like. Um. Big pause. Fortunately, two very nice, friendly, SMART women standing right in front of us figured out that a woman with three guys in tow who stopped right in front of the Christmas Shoppe must have done so on purpose. We all smiled at each other and greeted each other warmly. Introductions all around, followed by questions about our trips so far. Then the subject turned to THE Figment pack. It is a pack that looks like Figment, fuzzy and all. Figgy told us the story of how she bargained for it, and we ooohed and aaaahed over it. Mouse had to get going with her hubby on crutches but not before pictures were taken to commemorate the event.

Figgy and I chatted a little bit more. We could have talked for hours, and I felt awful cutting and running, but daylight was burning and our Pan fastpasses were about to run out.

We made our way to Pan. We've been converted. The fastpass is the only way to do Pan. It was so quick and easy. Wow! We had a longer than expected line wait at Small World, but we had to ride it one last time. While in line, I saw a Disney Dining facebook post about the Minnie Mouse cupcake at Captain Cook’s. mmmmm. Sure, we can stop in after dinner. Buzz fastpasses were about to expire, so we headed back to Tomorrowland, walking over by the wishing well. It was at this point that I realized I completely forgot about meeting Merida. Our first day was a washout, and this was our last chance. #@!#($*$# it! The line was waaaaay too long. We marched on to Buzz. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to hit those targets. I read a post from my facebook June WDW trippers that MK was extending their time an hour that evening. Whooo hooo!

After another fun time with Buzz, we made our way down Main Street (making use of our photopass on the way) and located the Resort Monorail walkway. As we were waiting, we heard, “Cameron!” One of Cameron’s soccer teammates and his family were walking up the ramp. Mind blowing! We all chuckled at our coincidental meeting and embarked. They were headed to DisneyQuest and got off at the Contemporary. We continued on to the Poly with just enough time for a couple of pics and clothes changing. I was NOT going to ‘Ohana all sweaty and in a t-shirt and shorts. Unfortunately, we never got a family picture while there.

It was 6pm as I checked in for dinner. Why is the check in booth so far away from the restaurant? Seriously. We received our buzzer and sat down. The wait wasn’t too bad – about 15-20 minutes. It went off, and Lance said, “Isn’t that your friend?” I looked up and yes, Figgy was taking pictures. I walked over to her and said hi once more before heading to our table. Our table had a plug right by it. Perfect.

Oh, we were completely stuffed. Everything - bread, salad, wings and potstickers, noodles, vegetables, the skewers, oh my! All was great, except for the pork (It was a little tough.), although I didn’t have the shrimp. Cameron had my share. Lance, Cameron and I were all stuffed.

Tempting, isn't it all?!
