Polynesian Resort Adding Bungalows

Any changes or updates to the plans?

None that I am aware of. Only thing that seemed different from the plan is there may be less than 15 of the bungalow grand villas built.

So.... are they going to add any parking? Taking away an existing lot would seem to exacerbate parking problems at the Poly.

And is the Spirit of Aloha going to be relocated? If so, where?

I would expect the parking to get locked down like the Contemporary. The locals are going to have to find a new place to park.

I would guess the luau would move inside somewhere. Then they wouldn't have to cancel shows during cold or other inclement weather.

No clue, but based on the layout of the resort I would think it would be next to impossible to restrict it to only DVC. At BLT the entire tower and the pool area are locked down. Without building a large unsightly fence they would have to open it to all guests.

They are going to have to have a fence. Way too big of a temptation to be right next to the TTC, which is basically available to everyone.

Wow! You weren't kidding when you said things were moving fast. I have such mixed emotions over this. I am happy that DVC will be there, but sad that things are going to change. I am going to trust that the Disney imagineers will do a fantastic job and blow us away. I think I will have to plan a summer getaway to the Poly for a few nights and go to the Luau. As always, Tikiman, thanks for the updates!

DVC @ Poly would be great! It is at all other MK Deluxe Resorts so this is an amazing idea!

Thought I had just read that they were doing roofing work/filing permits for said roofing work on the Luau building. Seems a bit odd to do work on something that would theoretically be torn down in 5 months.

Not at all. If there is a leak it will need to be fixed to keep the place running for those 5 months.
