Really? Do you have to rent points to stay or can you book a DVC room like a regular room? You can still stay in there even if it is DVC.

You can book it like a regular room, but it is much more economical to rent points.Really? Do you have to rent points to stay or can you book a DVC room like a regular room?
Both!! When the time comes, do the numbers. My guess is it will be pricey to stay there as a paying guest so renting is probably a better option.Really? Do you have to rent points to stay or can you book a DVC room like a regular room?
No clue, but based on the layout of the resort I would think it would be next to impossible to restrict it to only DVC. At BLT the entire tower and the pool area are locked down. Without building a large unsightly fence they would have to open it to all guests.Well I was thinking the same thing, will the new pool area be open to everyone at the resort?
Using BLT as a guide the cheapest studio room during value season there rents for 102 points for a week. Lets say you find someone to rent the points to you for between $8 and $12 a point. You would be paying between $816 and $1,224 for the week. Since you don't have to pay the 12.5% sales tax that's the equivalent of a pre-tax rate of between $104 and $156 per night. Try to find that rate at Poly booking a cash room. Both!! When the time comes, do the numbers. My guess is it will be pricey to stay there as a paying guest so renting is probably a better option.

Granted that's for the cheapest season and for a room with no view. If you wanted a room with a MK view for the popular summer season it's probably going to be more like 180 points for a week. Same math as above equates to a rate of between $183 and $274 a night. Still a huge bargain considering the current rack rate for theme park view rooms in July and August is between $660 and $709 per night (that's not a typo, it really is that high). The only problem you may have is finding someone willing to rent out their points. You could try for an owner who would trade in their points from another resort, but they may not be able to book at the 7 month window for you.
I didn't know that about the fence at the regular pool. With a fence it would be possible to restrict the new pool to DVC guests but I think if I paid $700 a night for a room and then was told I couldn't use the new pool area I would pitch a fit. I think BCV has a small DVC only pool, but nobody cares since the main pool is awesome. I think there may be a problem if the DVC pool ends up being nicer than the main pool. They will be adding a fence to the existing volcano pool at some point soon so I would not be surprised if they build one on the new pool. All the pools will need resort ID to gain access. I even heard they were going to try and limit access to the beach since there are signs that state pool and beach area is for Polynesian Resort guests only but we know how many visit the beach who are not guests.
I own at BCV and I have seen them card people at the DVC only pool when its busy...but your right most people try to sneak into Stormalong Bay instead of the DVC only pool anyway...I didn't know that about the fence at the regular pool. Should be the most popular rooms at WDW. They were described as grand villas so will be pricey if they are similar in price to the BLT 3 bedroom grand villas. The cash rack rate at BLT is between $1,800 and $2,600 per night!!!

if i ever am rich enough to stay in one, i will surely do it! haha
So.... are they going to add any parking? Taking away an existing lot would seem to exacerbate parking problems at the Poly.
And is the Spirit of Aloha going to be relocated? If so, where?
This clearly has been the trend with Disney. And not just Disney, but a lot of places. They look to attract wealthy (mostly) foreigners who will pay exorbitant. Meanwhile giving giving the kiss off (I have a more salty term in mind) to the "average" person.Bottom line: For me, unless I can convince my hubby to buy into DVC ( probably never going to happen). I will never be able to stay there! I am almost certain the "average" folks like me will not be able to afford such an extravagant thing as a bungalow!
Things are moving faster than expected. DVC will start work at the Polynesian the end of this year. Might even be announced this year and first phase will be done 2015.
