Polynesian DVC Announcement fake? Not Official?

Indeed. But I sincerely doubt they'll even make mention of it until we're much closer to when they want to sell points. They're barely into selling the Grand Floridian....I can't figure out why they would want to even dangle this carrot. There are probably plenty of people who would have bought at the GF, but then have seen/will see that they're building Poly DVC and will wait to buy there instead.

Because they're greedy. They literally can not wait to move from one DVC project to the next. WDW was so much better when the timeshares were simply out on 192 and I-Drive.

So, you're saying that their greed is stronger than their - until now - "smart" way of rolling out DVC resorts, by making sure the last one was comfortably headed toward being sold before building or announcing the next?

It sure would be big-headed of them to think they'll continue to sell GF while making it known that the much-anticipated DVCing of the Poly is actually happening, and in a not-too-long time frame.

But, they do seem to over-value their worth more and more these days.

Pretty much. It isn't that new, either. In 2009 they were selling BLT, Saratoga and Kidani all at the same time as new build.

Like I said in my thread, I am more curious as to where they go when Poly is done. FW/RC and both EPCOT proposals were put on ice because of cost and it has become clear they do not want to go stand alone (probably why OKW are SS are always available). As pathetic as it would be, I wonder if BLT South will become the next reason as to why I really don't want to spend time at WDW much anymore.

I'm sure that's what they'll do--add further DVC tumors to the deluxes. Unfortunately, DVC metastasized years ago and is now Stage 4. All we can do is make the south garden wing comfortable as we await the inevitable.

I have been getting messages from people at Disney telling me that they do not believe that the press release came from Disney.

I just had conversations with 3 different departments of Disney that include the Polynesian Resort and DVC and no one in any of those departments say that the press release was from Disney. They did mention that since the information is correct they don't seem to want to make them retract it but they are not saying they released anything official.

We all know it is true but was anything in that release any new information?

We all trust the people that have reported the "Official Announcement" so it is hard to not think it is real but so far I have not had one person at Disney I trust tell me they did not think it was fake.

It certainly was a quiet announcement. None of my coworkers or managers at WDW had heard anything about it either; the only discussion I heard of a Poly DVC was on here. It seems like DVC acts like its own secluded division of the company sometimes, even when it impacts WDW in a big way.

There really are no words to describe such a fate for the South Garden Wings, so we'll go with pathetic with the understanding it doesn't do the travesty justice.

Why not just tear the tower down for BLT phase 3?
With a south BLT2 and a larger BLT3 in the middle the Contemporary will look like a hidden Mickey! So excellent design!! At last the Contemporary will look Disney!!

No MK views, but sadly, the rubes will have no clue and buy it anyway.

They'll sell it as Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake views. People will pay a fortune for a magical view of the Electrical Water Pageant, the Grand Flo DVC, and the Poly DVC. They may even be able to crane their necks to see the Wilderness Villas.

I wish they'd just refurb it majorly and forget about DVC. The POLY is such a classic. They can update everything, but still keep it feeling the Polynesian feel it has. I am sad that DVC will be taking over the POLY. As someone said before, all of the resorts, including the values will have DVC eventually!:devilish:

I shudder to think of the POP Villas...

Ok...it's driving me crazy.. FW/RC..Fort Wilderness/Reedy Creek? What's the RC? Sorry, I can't come up with it for the life of me. I went to Epcot today and was feeling very nostalgic about sightlines. It's such a shame what is happening around the SSL
