Poly or Grand Flo?

We are taking a 3 day trip to the World in February with my in-laws and they told me to choose between the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian. The only deluxe I've stayed in was the Wilderness Lodge so I have no idea which of these I should go with. I am kind of leaning towards Grand Floridian just because I feel like it'll be a very long time before I'd splurge to stay there on my own tab, but wanted to get some advice here before I make the final call.

So which would you pick?

in-laws are paying for this trip, she just made the reservations in a club level room at the Grand Floridian. This will be by far the nicest trip I've ever taken so I'm reallly excited about it.

Well aren't you lucky! Definitely is a tough choice! I personally would go with the POLY simply b/c I like the atmosphere better there. Feels like you are in a tropical paradise in my opinion :) They are doing ongoing construction at GF too as they are expanding the resort to make way for Disney's newest vacation club.

The Poly has a beautiful setting, the atmosphere in the GCH beats the atmosphere in any other Disney resort I stayed at or visited (perhaps with the exception of WL), you really feel a little like being in the South Seas and the location is GREAT if you want to visit MK. They have the famous Tonga Toast and the Dole whip soft serve at Captain Cooks.
But the rooms and housekeeping are sub-standard, especially housekeeping, like in most Disney resorts can be catastrophic as housekeeping in Disney resorts is the worst I ever experienced and the Poly is no exception but a very bad example. And the AC ist the loudest in any Disney resort.
You can be disappointed at the Poly and at that insane price it's outrageous that they don't get these problems under control.

Uh oh these issues you mention are exactly what made me nervous about booking the POLY...I keep thinking I would have preferred the BWI...but I am looking forward to being on the monorail line and have Kona's right there close for coffee ... and I must have a deep desire to stay at the POLY, it along with GF are the 2 resorts I always visit on my trips to WDW...whether to dine or shop or hang in the lobby...

Call Disney about your reservation and demand a SPECIAL CLEANED room on your arrival! It's unbelievable but there is actually a difference between "normal" housekeeping standards and special cleaning at Disney resorts. After you arrived in your room check especially the balcony, if you have one, for cobwebs etc. and demand that they are removed as soon as possible. We actually still love the Poly, we love to eat breakfast there before going to MK and hang around in the lobby. Staying there was a dream from my childhood, when I visited WDW for the first time in 1982 I already wanted to stay there and told my parents that one day I will stay there as an adult during my own WDW vacation.
We were only disappointed by housekeeping.
