POLY Concierge is Worthless

Because Concierge Service is supposed to be a level of SERVICE - not just a lounge.

I get you may not have ever known what this means to have people cater to your needs and just make things happen - but that's just your lack of exposure.
You may not have meant for this to come off as a bragging banner for the 1%, but I must admit that this is one of my most hated posts of all time.

I don't know how else to say it when someone defies all available knowledge and experience -- they've demostrated they clearly don't have any direct experience with the subject and for some reason refuse to accept any assistance offered.

And for the record... I don't travel concierge when I'm paying ;) Back in the day when in sales and we worked hard and played hard... a different story :)

As much as I love Poly concierge, I have to agree, its not worth the money they charge. We have been able to get reservations at some restaurants through the CMs in the past, but not often. If you're on the dining plan, it may save you *some* money and snack credits, but certainly not enough to justify the overall cost.

I wStandard room this year decided to stay in Concierge Blvd we needed a handicapped room and all where booked in standard so I upgraded thinking it would b a nice treat for my family I wad so surprised at your posting of disappointment u r having. recommend the POLY concierge based on their service. We stayed here a few years back and really enjoyed it, but is is not what it used to be. Very sad.

I'm actually typing this right now from Hawaii house 3rd floor, park view.

1) They are supposed to greet you at the valet/bell hop, they didn't. Valet told us that concierge was gone (before 9:30 PM) and to go to the front desk. This wasn't my first time in the POLY concierge so I just made my way directly to the Hawaii house to avoid standing in a 20 minute line to be told to walk to the Hawaii house.
2) I went to the Hawaii house concierge desk to ask for help with some fast passes. I started by saying do not delete my fastpasses, I just want to check. Well, they deleted them and couldn't get them back.
3) The food served by the concierge in the evening is frankly, "disgusting". Pretty much it is appetizers they make in bulk every couple weeks, freeze, then defrost them in a microwave and then put them out. Very little variety, and it disappears quickly. Seriously, the food at a Holiday Inn Continental breakfast is far better quality and selection than the POLY.
4) Went to go get some dining reservations for that night and next night and they said they only had very late slots open. Went back to the room, got on the web and found earlier times.

On a side note, the other night at midnight the Magic Kingdom started blasting the park opening sequence. I was really surprised how loud it was as it. It stopped, started again, took a 10 minute break, woke me up again and on and on until 3 AM. I called the front desk twice and grabbed a passing security guard. I was told they were training "float drivers" and there is nothing they could do about it. Not sure why float drivers need to opening sequence, and at full volume. Kept me up half the night. Manager comped me $100.
Oh no I have reservations for Aug 2015 always stay at Dtandard

No, but it was hard work to be able to afford what we want. Others who are just born wealthy shouldn't be judged, and they shouldn't judge those who are trying to become wealthy or those too lazy to try.

You just said that anyone who isn't wealthy or trying to be is lazy. Is that what you meant to say?

As necessary as horizons suggestion that wealth is easy. I just thought that I'd point out that just because you decide do or have something, in many cases in t doesn't mean that you come to that end without years of hard work.

You know the old saying Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right? It is true.

Not at all. I'm saying don't judge those with wealth because you wouldn't want to be judged yourself. "Must be hard to be rich" implied that one perhaps shouldn't complain about the poly concierge. To that I say don't judge those who work hard to spend their money on what they want, and those that do won't judge those who don't work to afford what spend their money on. If you don't work at all, (extenuating circumstances excused) then yes of course you are lazy. Or just wealthy.

But go back and read the words you actually wrote...

I don't have to, I wrote them thanks! If you're too lazy to work for what you want to spend your money on, to have the wealth to afford what you want, you shouldn't be judged by those who do. Also, things like "must be nice to be rich" should not be said either. Do I have to explain it again?

So there are no lazy rich people then? That has not been my experience. There are lots of rich people that were simply born into privilege.

And I'm not too lazy to work for what I want. Money just isn't what I want. I have different priorities in my life.

I don't know how you don't see that you are being just as offensive as those who say things like "Must be nice to be rich."

A "Concierge" in a Disney deluxe hotel is just a regular CM with a little tenure, dressed up in a polyester suit (that's usually not tailored correctly), who smiles big cheesy smiles and taps at their computer before telling you something is booked, and then ends with "And have a MAGICAL day!"

Sadly I agree with this ... the only place that has true Concierge service with Disney is the Cruise Line, and while I feel it is worth every penny, it's expensive, but you have a team of 3 that takes care of you seemingly 24/7. I would recommend it to anyone wanting the best while cruising with Disney.

So, you think what's missing is the ability of the concierges to get ADRs in full restaurants and FPs for attractions when they are sold out? Are there other things you think are missing? I am not arguing. Just wondering.
Their was a time when a certain amount of open slots were kept open for Concierge's so that when you paid for that premium service, they could preform the impossible and get you a table at the booked up Cali Grill or tickets to a sold out show like the Hoop De Doo back in it's heyday, in that respect it was well worth the money to those who didn't want to make vacation decisions 180 days in advance.

Unfortunately where the parks are concerned it seems like those days are long gone and that they need to take the Concierge label off what they are selling because it is falling short of guest expectations.

I can promise you that on the Cruise Line the Concierge level is truly that, and worth the expense.

Glad to hear Disney Cruise Line still knows what a "concierge" is supposed to be, and what they are supposed to do.

Disney could call their Deluxe Hotel concierges "astronauts" or "brain surgeons", but that still doesn't mean they can go to Mars or can operate on you. Just calling a perky CM a "concierge" isn't enough, but that's what Disney's Deluxe Hotels do, sadly.

The concierge in the Grand Californian Concierge Lounge couldn't even keep the coffee urn filled the last time I stayed in a Concierge room at the Grand Californian. Her perky-smiley response to me at 10:30AM while I stared at my empty coffee cup was to "go down to La Brea Bakery in Downtown Disney, they have really good coffee!"

BZZT!
Sorry sweetie, that's the wrong answer to that question. And that was truly the LAST TIME that I ever paid for a Concierge room at a Disney hotel. Never again.

Now that does sound decadent.

I hear what you are all saying. And it does sound like concierge isn't worth the money.
