So let me get this straight. There are three separate chains called Pollo Campero, Pollo Loco and Pollo Tropical. I’ve never heard of any of them!

Its not too strange.....

KF Chicken, Popeye Chicken, Maryland Chicken, Boston Chicken (now market), Bojangles Chicken, Church's Chicken, Dixy Chicken etc...

It is my personal theory that Disney and McDonalds got into a feud over how to share the profits. Each is a big established corporation and both probably felt the other was not sharing like good kids should do.
So they took their toys and went separate ways.

:)

I think it had more to do with a string of Disney films tanking, taking down Happy Meal sales with them (while McDs had to let Shrek go to BK, then watch it turn into a monster hit), combined with the insane rents that go with being anywhere on Disney property. Even with its inflated prices, the DTD McDs was still just a fast food joint--$1,000,000 a year plus 10% of your gross has got to cut into your profits.

Well we have to see what replaces it first. I still think a Muppet what-not-shop is a good idea. Or a walk up waffle stand that serves real Belgian waffles :slurp:.
I doubt a What-Not Shop, they are building one at DHS.

You and the waffles....:lookaroun:lol:

I was never a fan of the Lego store but I did love their creations outsider the building...

Just read on the Save PI blog that LEGO store is closing too right after McDonald's!!

I never liked that Lego store.

I like Legos, and I like Lego Stores. I just never liked THAT Lego store.

Always packed and always a destroyed mess.

Yes, I know, it's a reflection of the location and the clientèle, not the store, but it still dragged the store down.

Yes
DTD is not closed.

Nobody here that posts regularly seems to have any knowledge of the infrastructure issues on the "island" formerly known as PI. I have heard people hint that they are quite significant issues. The buildings and infrastructure appear to have been built to last so I imagine it is extremely difficult to repurpose the structures into something that makes sense and will serve the new "vision". Some of the buildings are rather massive with a lot of steel not to mention the need to redo the electrical and other utilities on a location surrounded by water. It amazes me that so many people fail to grasp the complexity of such issues. If it was so easy the world wouldn't need engineers.

If they had any real vision at all, they would have seen these challenges, planned for them, closed the clubs, and had a concrete idea of was going on. Instead, we have empty buildings and lame excuses....and really ed off security ppl because of the mannequins pictures on the save PI blog LOL.

Someday I will give my opinion of what happened and why. I think Disney has had a strategy for DTD all along. But I don't want to say for what will eventually be obvious reasons. Look at how many years DCA version 2 has taken and will take. By the time the current makeover is finished it will be nearly a full decade for the project. PI's makeover has only been actively underway for a little over a year.

Yes, but they didn't close California Adventure and let it sit for years on end before doing anything with it. They're keeping as much open as possible while systematically working on different parts of the park at a time.

And I think you and I have different definitions of 'actively underway.' In my mind, that means that significant work and construction were going on, instead of just sitting empty with nothing going on.
