I hear ya- I remain hopeful that the "old Disney" will resurface in a shiny new package one day, but until then, my family will be having fun and dumping our cash at UOR :)
I was there once when I was maybe 13-14. I'm 34 now. I just went there this Wednesday... I can't wait to go back! I don't know why I avoided it so long. Cabana bay looks like it might be my next hotel too. As long as prices are reasonable.

Another person with food allergies here... is there a date for when it is set to close? we are going to be there the 21st of this month and I was hoping to order myself a birthday cake from there.. this is a huge loss for me I always started my mornings there stopping at DTD for some donuts in the morning I really hope they get incorporated back into the mix of store that are going to open with Disney Springs

On last WDW trip was super excited to go to BabyCakes bc I'm Gluten Free and have allergies/autoimmune issues. The problem I discovered was when they make their cupcakes and such GF there they use other products and by products that are my exact allergies so, no loss for me that they are going away.

The Pollo Campero didn't seem 'authentic' w/o the Latin music playing or the tamarindo on tap...

(is a non-alcholic beverage ever 'on tap'?)

That said, it' was the only 'available at home' food that I sought out there. While the sides are 'ok', the chicken is tremendous...

I guess this will give me an excuse to try Earl of Sandwich...

I feel sure there will be a replacement for both of these businesses...there will probably be a Disney Branded Pollo Carioca's and a Disney babies Cakes...where you will be able to get Gluten Free cupcakes in fun Disney flavors... lol

Hey! They will still be baking for the Resorts and Parks - especially cakes. Give them a call at 407-938-9044, they are super nice and helpful.

Then would you like to accompany me to the restroom for three days straight and hand me the toilet paper? Or perhaps hold my hair while I vomit?

I have celiac disease. Your humor doesn't humor me. :p

I know of several people who are genuinely allergic to gluten, one of which it is literally a life & death matter.
Others have 'self diagnosed' themselves and may very well not (I heard somewhere that among young people for each one that has an allergy there are 4 that claim they do but really don't). Between the 'definites' and the 'possibles' there are plenty who want (in many cases *need*) gluten free options.

Having 'professionally' prepared gluten free options (as opposed to 'in-house' where cross contamination is more likely) can potentially save a life.
