Close tie for me between ANH and ESB, so I went with ANH since that movie started it all.

For what it's worth, here's my SW movie rankings:

"Star Wars" is my favorite Star Wars film. (Its official name is not "A New Hope.") "Empire" is fun and took a lot to a new level, but I still think that "Star Wars" is better as a stand-alone film. It not only set the stage for the rest of the series and all other blockbusters to follow, but it tore down the whole theatre and rebuilt the whole darn thing before it "set" that stage. The extended Fox logo set us up, then we blasted off to a place where movies had never gone so successfully.

I also liked the original ending song to "Return of the Jedi" better than the stylized Special Edition version that survives today. (Some of the Special Edition updates were useful -- like removing some lines -- but overall I liked the originals better.)

Empire is my favorite followed by the original "Star Wars".

What's interesting about Empire is how it's not only considered the best SW movie by critics, but also has moved up the ranks as one of the best "movies" of all time.

My personal favorite is RotJ, but honestly...
I’m in the process of wrapping up my Skywalker Saga marathon leading up to IX, and I’ve loved every single one. Yeah, some of them have cruddy writing or bad acting or iffy storytelling. But they’re all Star Wars, and if even one of them was different, every other element would be impacted negatively. Beautifully imperfect it may be, but the Skywalker Saga is my favorite story ever told. I’ll be sad to see it go.

I went with return of the jedi. Now with that said, I believe empire strikes back is the better movie but return of the jedi just connected with 8yr old me unlike anything else. Biker scouts and speeder bikes. Jabbas palace and the Rankor. Jedi master Luke! Bright tree village...

For the millionth time: get outta my head!!!

Here’s the sitch:

Empire is best, Jedi is probably second - for real - cause it still visually represents the height of Star was and it had character development similar to empire (best ancillary character too), Star Wars was corny, but original...

I’d put rogue one way down in number 4


The rest I’ll not bother to rank anymore...I’m done with this exercise that tries to gloss over Hollywood failures.
