Rumor has it that Club 33 is coming to WDW -- in one or possibly more of the Parks.

Considering the California version is very expensive to join and remain a member, with an initiation fee reported to be $25,000 (or higher for corporate memberships) and annual dues somewhere over the $10,000 rainbow, membership is obviously intended to be somewhat exclusive.

Do you have what it takes, and are you willing to front that much money to rub elbows with the higher-ranking WDW executives? Answer in the poll, and let's discuss below...

You can't just take the DL prices and pass them on as the WDW prices. I'd lean towards them being a decent amount lower, because the DL area is much more affluent than Orlando. Club 33 is mostly locals. In WDW I'd figure they want to target vacationers as well, which would mean a lot more members but also a lower fee.

Very ignorant statement.
Correct.
I'll retract that "no one" and replace it with "99.99% of people on this site."

The prices listed are similar to a person's local club, or a good majority of them anyway. To add something like this now you're talking an even higher wealth level. Sure, there are people who don't care about their local clubs, and there are people who can afford, and want to do both. Those are the small percent.

I'd rather donate that money to people who need it. I could go to Victoria and Albert's or a better Orlando restaurant for a tiny percentage of the cost.

But sure, do what you wanna do.

For most people joining clubs at the price point.. it's not an either/or scenario. They still have plenty left over for philanthropy

Without knowing the details its hard to make any statement of affordability of this. Add that to the fact that this site is read by people from all socioeconomic backgrounds there is no way to know the amount of people that can or can not afford it. I can but would never spend money on something like this.

I truly believe that's a misconception. This country is one of the leaders in private philanthropy from its citizens.

Of course it won't apply to 100% of people though.
It's not ONE OF, it is THE leader. And it isn't even close!

Clearly, that's a possibility -- that's why I said "considering..." -- I was using the fees as a relative price point to show how DLR values the exclusivity of the Club 33 brand.

I don't know how much lower they could afford to go and still maintain "exclusivity"... perhaps that's fodder for another poll...?

Based on what I've read, Disney's target is the Golden Oaks people. I also believe they are planning on building more of these communities and they need an exclusive place for these people to congregate away from the riff raff.

Good points. There are lots of factors to consider: overall wealth, level of Disneyphilia, frequency of visits, size of family, etc. Compare to those who choose to pay for the upsells, or always stay concierge level; those who would use the now-dead Platinum Dining Plan, or hire a plaid for multiple days, and those who have multiple hundreds of DVC points in their accounts.

Everything I stated was based on the prices listed by the OP. "Can afford" something is so relative based on what else you are spending your money on.. disposable income..kids..savings...travel...etc etc. (most) People who choose $50k+ golf clubs aren't thinking about if they can afford it. That's the people who would most likely join something like Club 33- at the price points listed. This is a small percentage of this country.. and logically would be a small percentage of this site. That's not ignorance, it's truth.

But then again, I agree with someone above who said you'll have your Disney Fanatics joining.. so my statement may not apply there lol

Shhhhh!!! No!! Anyone with money is a greedy monster. They can't possibly do good for anyone else.

That certainly is a viable target clientele, along with captains of industry from Tampa, Miami, and the Orlando area...
