Pokemon at USF discussion/speculation.

For those keeping up with rumors, Pokemon is apparently coming to USF replacing Simpsons. From what I have gathered on the IU forums, the land is currently rumored for 2030, and the main ride will not be a clone of what Japan is getting (which according to insiders is basically another variant of MK due to space constraints of taking over the old Spiderman building).

With that in mind, how do you think this land will turn out? what experiences would you want to see this land have for both the main ride and other entertainment offerings?

I bet they’ll do a shooter like Pokémon Snap or simply catching Pokémon.

There’d better be Pokémon catching in the land. Can they improve upon Pokémon Go?

I know very little of Pokemon aside from my son showing me every card he has over and over again...

But, I'd like to be able to collect Pokemon (around the land and within the attractions). Have a Battle arena set up where you can team up with other guests and use your collected Pokemon to battle.

Pokemon is such a generational thing that I feel like you need some sort of attraction or walkthrough that explains what they are and the purpose of the trainers. A boat ride similar to Navi with animatronic and screen-based Pokemon that fill the banks of the river while a narrator (veteran trainer) tells the story and calls out the types you "find" could be a nice family attraction.

seems like a boat dark ride like Snap would work, not sure how to make a trainer duel a thing in the context of a ride
the table-service restaurant writes itself though...

I'm gonna hedge a bet and say that if Niantic and to an extent Pokémon GO haven't imploded by then, integration will be apart of the land.

I know I'm not the target demographic, but a Pokemon land seems incredibly boring. None of the locales in the show seem incredibly interesting or iconic and the IP is based on collecting animals to have dog fights, not a ton of attraction ideas to play off of there.

So, when do we expect this to actually begin construction? Or know anything about it? All depends on the Simpsons ride closing.

Last I heard, the Simpsons contract is up in 2028. Disney has allegedly been surveying guests asking about their presence at Hollywood Studios. So there is likely active blue-skying going on in both worlds.

I wouldn't expect a Springfield closure for at least a couple years. EU opens this year, Rockit goes down and will be replaced (maybe for 2027?) and then there's an opening for another Studios ride to close once the replacement is up and running.

Do you mean as in “that’s when Simpsons will close” or “something else other than Simpsons closes”? Sorry. Wanted to clarify.

And I have heard about that. Very interesting, wonder how that will turn out.

Could go either way. The rumored Rockit replacement is an East Coast version of the new Fast And Furious coaster, so Super Charged may have to close before Simpsons.

In a perfect world yes. But maybe that doesn’t happen. Who knows? All I hope is that Supercharged replacement doesn’t keep the “bus” ride system in order to do a quick turnaround, but idk maybe it will. The buidling is def staying tho.

Yeah, they don't have to replace Supercharge if Rockit's replacement is themed to F&F, but it would look hella sloppy if they left it there for long. But it will probably be a quicker fix than Simpsons.

Do they care about looking sloppy? Look at Lost Continent. Despite both attractions being closed for it, Zelda doesn’t look imminent.

Good point. Lost Continent is now a literal name for that piece of the park. I guess they still have the best theme park restaurant in the world there.
