POFQ and DME question?

Do The French quarter and riverside share a bus/boat route?

What is the best building to request to be close to the main building, transportation and/or the pool?

What is the best level to choose for the best view? We booked standard view room.

I get into MCO at 10:30 am my friend doesn't get in until 4:15 pm. When I gave Disney the information they said to talk to DME when I get there about my luggage. I'd like to wait for my friend, but that's a six hour wait. I'm thinking of taking a cab to visit international blvd and come back. My questions are...

What will happen to my luggage with the yellow tag during that time?

Will DME hold onto my carry on luggage at the airport if I decide to leave and come back?

If I make it to Disney via cab and check in then go back to the airport, can I still take DME to the resort with my friend?

The woman on the phone at Disney had no answers for me, I don't think many people voluteer to wait around an airport for 6 hours when they could be a Disney instead.

POFQ and POR do share a boat route, and sometimes share a bus route. Depending on the destination and the time of the day, the two may share a bus, or it may be one for each resort.

If you are staying at POFQ, there really is no bad building. The layout is significantly smaller than other resorts, so all are fairly close the the main building. You can see a resort map here -> http://www.wdwmagic.com/Other/maps/Gallery/01Mar2008-Resort-Maps.htm, but I believe the closer buildings are preferred rooms, not standard.

If you put the yellow tag on your luggage it will be pulled behind the scenes. Once it makes it to your resort, they will store it until you check in. Once you have checked it, it would be delivered to your room. They won't deliver prior to check in to ensure that the room they place it in truly is your room and not reassigned at the last minute. If you don't want that to happen, then don't put the yellow tag on it, but you will then need to be responsible for it.

I don't think DME will hold your carryon. That whole "don't accept luggage from strangers" thing they announce every 5 minutes. Once you walk through the TSA exit your bag could in theory have a malicious item placed in it by someone who drove up, and they won't want the responsibility of holding that. Or heck, you could have just drove up with something malicious in the bag, they have no way of knowing. You will need to keep your luggage with you.

DME will take you to the resort as long as you have a valid DME reservation and information. They prefer that you go closer to your arrival time as they are staffed according to demand, but should still be able to handle you 6 hrs later.

Assuming you talked to CRO, they don't know much about DME beyond entering your information into their system.

Last time we were there we lucked out and got bldg 5 water front, 2nd level, although we just booked standard view. This was the perfect location. Although it was close to the pool we didn't hear pool noise from the room.

What will happen to my luggage with the yellow tag during that time? It will get picked up from the baggage claim and be delivered to your resort. You can check in with DME when you land and tell them that you want to take a later bus because you are waiting for a friend.

Will DME hold onto my carry on luggage at the airport if I decide to leave and come back? No.

If I make it to Disney via cab and check in then go back to the airport, can I still take DME to the resort with my friend? Yes, but a cab back and forth will be expensive.

The woman on the phone at Disney had no answers for me, I don't think many people voluteer to wait around an airport for 6 hours when they could be a Disney instead. I know that I wouldn't wait at the airport for 6 hours while Disney is only a bus ride away!

Can you not check in until your friend arrives or do you just want to do it together. Why can't you take DME to the resort and take a bus to DTD or something and then meet your friend at the resort. You don't have to take the DME bus together. Unless you just are asking because you want to. I will say this for sure - I wouldn't miss out on 6 hours of Disney to wait. If you are trying to figure out what to do with your luggage, have DME take you to the resort and the resort will store it for you until you check in.

WHAT TORTURE, WHAT HORRORS. As soon as I touch down I'm all fidgety to get on that bus and count the miles down to my resort. If I could I'd jump up front and put my foot on the gas pedal and make that bus driver DRIVE. Can't you go any faster I'm yelling in my mind!! GET ME TO DISNEEEEY :D

I really did want to be there to experience her first disney moments in 20 years but that wait was gonna be brutal. I called her and explained my problem and got her blessing to go on without her. Now we'll meet at the resort.

Hi,

we've stayed at FQ the last 2 trips and planning a 3rd in Jan. It's our favorite!
Sharing a bus with Riverside - yes and no. sometimes they share. but most important they pick up at FQ first when going to the parks.

*there is NO bad building in my opinion. our last trip we were in the farthest building and took less than a few minutes to get to the main building. it's small which is easy.

we always get standard view rooms. if you upgrade your just looking out onto the walkway and railing. it's not like you get a balcony to enjoy. save the money for a souvenir.

I don't have answers to the DME questions but I do think you could go to the hotel - check in - then try to return on a later DME bus to meet your friend (since they take people back to the airport). but I'll warn you that you might just get comfy by the pool and not want to leave!

we had a bad experience in 2010 with DME and it took 2 hours to get to our hotel from the time we checked in at the airport (going to FQ). last year we rented a car for the first day to avoid the problems - also so we could get some water and snacks for the room.
