I just read in the All Ears newsletter about the bus route at Coronado. Does any one know the bus route at PO-Riverside? We will be there in July and will have 2, 2 year olds so we want to request a room that is close to the 1st bus stop. My sister stayed at POFQ last year and thought that the fist stop at POR is at the lobby.

Another question can anyone tell me which area our little boys might enjoy more, Alligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend? Thanks so much.

We just stayed at Alligator Bayou. It was fantastic. Your boys would love it. Also, the second bus stop is easily accessible from many of those buildings. It is a nice walk through the trees. Have fun.

If memory serves, there are four bus stops at Riverside, and the buses stop at all four before heading for their ultimate destination. Once of the advantages of French Quarter is that there's only one bus stop.

This question actually has a two-part answer...depending on what time of year you go, POFW and PORiv share a bus system - even at peak, at parts of the day, they share a bus system. Normally at park opening and closing they have their own. If you want the convenience of always having a seat, then FQ is the place to stay as the shared busses stop there first both departing and arriving. THey then proceed to the main lobby of Riverside, then around the loop to three other stops. If you are worried about a stroller, then you really should request a building closer to the main lobby at Riverside (There is only one stop at FQ so it doesn't matter as much there).

As far as which section you stay in Alligator Bayou vs Magnolia Bend doesn't matter that much - unless you want one particular type of building...Magnolia Bend is designed to look like Mansions in New Orleans and they have three floors. ALligator Bayou buildings are only two floors and feel more "bungalow like" (albeit with 100 other people in your "bungalow"). There is a primary pool on the island, and there are smaller "quiet pools" scattered throughout - so again, having a pool near you isn't a major consideration. You can't go wrong with either of the Port Orleans properties.

We stayed at PO:FQ, and it ALWAYS shared a bus with PO:R...
It was never an inconvenience, and only at the park closings would the bus truly fill up.

As for the buses, I think it really depends on when you go. We stayed at riverside jan 8-15 of this year and since our room was in building 28 we would choose between the 1st stop (south depot at main building) and the second stop (west depot) the first couple of days we used the 2nd stop and it seemed like those busses always hit the other two stops before goint to the parks. We started to use the main depot because those buses would pick you up and immediately leave out for their destination, without going to the other 3 stops.

Like, i said this was in off-peak season and we never had to stand except on the buses that took you to your resort at park closing. So, i would assume that this is drastically different from the bus schedules and runs during may-august.

The bus system is complicated to plan out to be exact heres why....well this is just what I have observed over ther years and that they did on our last trip.
-Some times the buses start at south, go all away around and stop at south again before heading to their destination.
-Some start at south then W,N,E and on to destination.
-In the am when there are alot of ppl heading for one park and the bus fills to capacity it dosent even go around the loop just on to destination. Usually when this happens there are other buses that start at west and on around.
-In the am and after I think 4 or 4:30 por and porfq have seperate buses to MK. In between during the slow time they share.
-Ive seen them start at POR then go to PORFQ.
-Been on them where they start at north then east, then PORFQ then back to south, then west then back out the back way and on to the destination.
-Buses to TL and BB share with other destinations, in the AM BB,TL are the first stop. In the PM TL/BB are the last stop(to keep wet ppl on bus for shortest time).
-If a bad storm comes they divert alot of buses to TL/BB because they want to get as many ppl away from there that want to leave because of lightning.
-If you want to take a bus from your room to south (food court) or vise versa ask the driver because he might not be going all away round where they might have the day before.
-If a bus pulls up and the sign still reads POR ask the driver because he or she might have forgot to change it for some reason.
-If you get on a bus to a park, forget something and plan on just staying on the bus and going back to your room, again ask the driver because now days their routes constantly change.
-If you have a PS, Show or parade to get to at a certain time allow at least 30 min ride time. If you have to transfer allow 1 hour. Just when you think it will take you 15 min to get from your room to your destination you will (and I say will) get a driver that seems to take a new way that seems to be sight seeing tour of the property all at a speed 5 MPH under the speed limit. I once asked a driver why we went past MGM to get from POR to MK, he said he was way ahead of schedgule and needed to kill time.

Oh if it could only go back to the days of the colored flag system on the buses.

Thank you for your insight. I just got off the phone with my cousin, long story short, my aunt is now coming too and we may upgrade resorts so I may not need to know too much about the POR bus route any more. If not maybe we'll run into each other. But a whole-hearted thank you.

I didnt even notice on your threat that you would be there when we would. Have you been to POR before? IMO you cant go wrong with POR, Its gives you the feel of a deluxe resort with a moderate price. Its the only Mod that has waterfront that you can take a boat to a destination, as in PORFQ and downtown disney. Anyhow where ever you stay enjoy and lets hope for good weather.

My aunt can get us a great rate to Wilderness Lodge. And we will have young ones with us so I think we are going to switch.
