Plz. tell me about dinner at Kohna at the Poly

I will be dining here one evening during my trip. I have heard it is a quiet little gem in the Poly, but have not heard much more. Could you tell me about the food, the service, the atmosphere and anything I should now. What is your fav dish and what should I stay away from. Any sushi there?

It is quite the gem! It's so open, colorful, and lively. The food is terrific, with some spectacular appetizers and entrees. We usually go there for lunch, and it is my favorite place at Disney to have lunch outside of the parks. :slurp:

Save room for dessert - they are to die for! Everything was really good but the atmosphere is lacking imo. You have the food and prices of a really nice restaurant with more of a cafe atmosphere. I have posted pics of our meals and desserts in the food pic thread - you should check it out.

My girls loved the terriyaki steak (they loved this steak more than what they were served at Le Cellier). This is one of our favorites...a new must do. I'd go with Kona over LC anytime...esp. after our July visit at LC. I love that it is a smaller rstrnt. but you aren't squished in.

This has become our favorite place. It has a great atmosphere looking out in the lobby on the second floor. The crab cakes are amazing. The grilled ribete with tamarnd jus and yukon potatoes was fantastic, way better thean lecellier. And yes they have sushi, in fact they have a sushi bar you can sit at, and it is some of the best, easily the best on property. Have a great time and enjoy this hidden gem

Kona is one of my favorite. I love the Poly's atmosphere so even though it tends to loud, I still love it. My favorite is the coconut almond chicken and the coconut kiki tart is SO good. I also recommend the sticky wings. Best wings on Disney property.

Not old, just vintage.
Dinner at Kona is great. They have a sushi sampler appetizer that is quite good. My favorite entrees there are the Teriyaki Steak or the Shrimp and Scallops. Both are great. The only thing I don't like about the place is the price. For being essentially a cafe in the middle of the lobby it is a bit pricey.

One of my absolute favorites! I don't think we have ever had a bad meal there and I agree it is a hidden gem. No idea why so many people over look it but at least it makes it easier for me to enjoy!

Great place!!
My wife and I eat here often.
We Love to eat breakfast at The Kona Cafe. The waitresses are always friendly and cheerful. They seem to genuinely enjoy working there. Not a phoney cheerfulness if you know what I mean. Great food as well. I have never had a bad meal there.
A great way to start out the day!:)

After seeing the photos that kangaand2roos posted of the food items - especially the coconut chicken (YUMMY!!!) I think I need to add this to my list of must do's for next year!

Ate at Kona for the first time on our last trip, and had a great meal and a nice experience.

I love the look and vibe of the Polynesian, especially the Great Ceremonial House, so the location is a real plus for me.

The food was great, I had the teriyaki strip steak and was very impressed.

It's especially nice if you can time a visit to watch Magic Kingdom fireworks from the Poly beach after dinner.
