Pluto Demoted!

Pluto may be still be Mickey's Top Dog, but the "dwarf planet" is in the Solar System's doghouse. Astronomers now state that Pluto is no longer an official planet. Scientists supporting Pluto's former status had a sense of humor about it, apparently:

But the scientists at the conference showed a soft side, waving plush toys of the Walt Disney character Pluto the dog — and insisting that Pluto's spirit will live on in the exciting discoveries yet to come.

Yeah, but only 300 of the 2500 scientists in attendance voted!!

I mean it orbits around the Sun and has a moon - Pluto will always be the 9th planet to me!!

It's really a vast conspiracy by the textbook companies... :drevil: LOL!!!

oh sorry...

Poor Pluto...

(And...to comment about an above poster's response...isn't Saturn the one with the prominent rings?)

And you have officially made my day. Again. :D

I believe Saturn IS the one with the rings. "Paging Mr Morrow. Mr Tom Morrow. Your party from Saturn has arrived. Please give them a ring." Right?

Jupiter does have one large ring :drevil:

I read that if Pluto, which is pretty much a ball of ice smaller than our moon and is on an assymetrical orbit, is included as a planet than everything from asteroids to other balls of ice would have to be included, something like hundreds of little planets.
