Being that I have my own beermeister at home and keep a half keg on tap at all times, your ill feelings towards Guiness are falling on deaf ears. :p Other than the $125/keg price being a killer, it is almost as tough to find a legit place that will put the nitrogen/carbon dioxide mix into a tank for use with it.

Speaking of Jelly Roll's... does anyone know how busy it is on non-Cast-Member nights? I only was able to make it on no-cover for Cast Members nights, and it was a pretty happnin' spot, but other nights I don't kow about.

I've been there for both occasions. I am not a CM and accidently ended up there when it was CM night. It was standing room only and a great time.

My 2nd time there, we left after an hour or so becuase it was so empty. There was about 20 people there in total. I haven't been back, so I don't know if I was just there on a bad night or not.

Guinness is the worst tasting beer I have ever had. Actually, it's the worst tasting alcoholic beverage, period. They should get something sponsored by Tequiza instead. :)
i think your age is showing a little, while tequiza isn't bad its not exactly what i'd call a "good" drink, its really more in line with things like Mike's Hard Lemonade, based on market research to provide a taste that non-beer drinkers find innofensive
now Guiness on the other hand..... its like black coffee, an aquired taste, but once you "get it", its sublime

anyhow, an Irish themed pub sounds pretty cool, but Disney needs to do something special with it. Considering there's already an Irish style pub at the U.K in Epcot, along with hundreds of faux-Irish pubs scattered along the east coast of the U.S., it will need more than just a dark atmosphere and heaps of dark wood and brass fixtures.

I am guessing you have never been to the UK!!!! The Rose & Crown at Epcot is NOTHING like an Irish pub, it is an English pub (there's a difference, trust me!) I should know as I live within spitting distance of several quaint English pubs and my grandmother used to run one! Anyways, I am all for the Irish pub as long as it serves Baileys Irish Cream :slurp:

But please PI management don't mess with the Adventurers Club.......EVER!!!!
Or you'll have me to deal with!

i got it.... Add ireland to Epcot.... Ireland... Sponsored By guiness..... How about that....

Then we would have an irish pub.....

And we could have a Irish club/pub still be at PI too.... just make it more americanized too..... hehe....

Pleasure Island and Universal City Walk were both great thigns in their time. However, that time has passed. Clubs and admission prices are not exactly a good idea for family friendly places either.

They wont. AC is one of the more consistant draws at PI. They have a constant crowd that spends $$$ at the bar. Places like Mannequins, BET, Motions dont really get started until after the club has been open for a few hours.

That and Pamelia would never stand for it.... LMAO

Curious...what kind of trouble are the under-18 crowd causing?

The closest I've been to PI is the entrance. I've never gone in, never had the desire though I'm old enough. I'm definitely not into the clubbing scene and I don't drink so I have no reason to go.

When I was at downtown disney last though I saw a lot of young adults around my age in the area. 'course most of them were all dressed in the fashionable clothes 'an all, (ADIDAS, FUBU (FUBAR), etc) but....not my scene. Definitely not my scene.

Yeah, it probably is my age. Everyone I know thinks it taste like a mixture of coffee and cra... nevermind. Mike's isn't good either. It's like wine coolers where they are supposedly for "girls and wusses". (Not me talking. I think they are good sometimes. lol) Tequiza isn't my favorite but it's my favorite "different" beer. Bud Ice is my favorite alcoholic drink ever. :slurp:

Well, All i know was the other night, (around 11pm) i was standing outside the AC talkign with a friend and he said something to the effect of "Well, at least there arent any babies tonight" ... and if on cue, 3 strollers go by.

Because there's no place i'd rather take my toddler late on a friday night then Pleasure Island.... (Morons)

The Jazz Club ... was/is great. I saw The Christian Hastings Band there and they absolutely tore the roof off. The sound was great, the atmosphere was great and it was packed wall to wall.

The only problem I could see with the Jazz Club is that it was called the "Jazz Club". The music I heard was Rock / Blues. They could have just renamed the club "LIVE" or something like that and then kept the music acts coming in. Honestly ... I'm sure tons of local bands would audition for a chance to play there for free, just for exposure.

Anyway ... my two cents is that there are plenty of other venues to change that were less entertaining, but then again ... maybe I was there on a good night.

Although addmission to the Island is free now, unless you enter the clubs....I really wish they would not allow those under 18 onto the island unless they are with a parent. The area in front of both stages has become a gathering place for the 16'ish year old crowd....and, well, they really have no business being there......it is not like they are a financial benefit to the company, and typically, they see mto cause more trouble than they are worth. I like the open addmission to the island, but keep the kiddies away!

Right Right Speck.
The kids are more likely to be involved in trouble when hanging around that area,ie underaged "sneak" drinking, and imature behavior. Its bad enough that you can't walk through West end on a weekend night without walking through a seemingly endless high school social gathering. The last thing I want to see is kids when I'm drinking at PI. Then there's the problem of UA girls and beergoggles.I "thought" she was 18.....there is no place for kids on that island unattended, I too like the free addmission as long as its 18+.

BTW - ArtVandelay had a post about The Fireworks Factory. I had no idea what this was so I checked the net.

Looks like it was the predecessor to "The Whitehorse Saloon".

This is the best description I could find:

This is the home of the Fireworks Factory, which offers Factory Ale (a light ale contract-brewed by Orlando's Beach Brewing), Samuel Adams, and Killian's on draft and more than 30 micros and imports in bottles, including beers from Nor'wester, St. Stan's, Abita and Saxer. The stacks of beer cases near the bar give you an idea of how beer-friendly a place it is, although the frozen-drink machines for concoctions such as the Atomic Mudslide and the Detonator Dacquiri may throw you off. The Fireworks Factory is decorated explosively, as its name implies. Parts of walls appear to have been blown off, yellow-and-black "danger" strips and firecracker posters decorate walls, gunpowder stains the floors. Ribs are the specialty, along with barbecued chicken and steaks.

Although there's a fee for admission to Pleasure Island, visitors who want to patronize the Fireworks Factory alone can arrive by separate entrance and forgo the fee.

Sounds like fun ... bummer I missed it.

Unless PI sets up turnstyles at the entrances just to check IDs, but not tickets, just to filter out the crowd... I think thats about the only way they can do it without hard ticketing the entire island again...

BTW, the new Massage Place is open. They have the machines that you get into that sprays high pressure water up and down your back.... (Its self-contained, you dont get wet, there's a liner) that is $15 for a 10 minute massage or as well as the ever popular Brookstone Chairs that are 1 dollar / 3 minutes.

Its an Operating Participent, Guests are Not touched and there was some serious lines earlier.

And no, no happy endings....

Sounds like you should invest in an evening at the Adventurers Club... throngs of your fellow nerds gather there nightly.

And IMO it had some great food. I was in my early teens when that place was open and spent a couple of birthday dinners there. The things I remember most about them were the cornbread that they brought to your table instead of just standard rolls(some of the best cornbread I'd had) and the onion rings, which were the really thin seasoned ones, not the mostly batter and a little onion things most places tend to serve. I liked the decor, because it was unique and the menus even looked like they had been singed in a fire. The story for the theming, as I remember it was that it had been a place that made fireworks, and then there was an accident and the interior was blasted all to heck(some of the walls actually looked like sections had been blasted or crumbled off). Instead of reopening the factory, it was shut down and the restaurant took over the space. I really do miss that place.
