It seems like I don't hear a whole lot about this restaurant. I'm not a huge fan of character dining, but I don't necessarily dislike it. My husband is Norwegian so I thought this might be a nice surprise dinner reservation. I've seen the menu online, so I know what they serve, but I'd like to get some input on how you liked the food, the atmosphere, etc. I also know it's a restaurant that requires a credit card to reserve. That's about all I know, so I'd like to learn more from others that have actually been there. Thanks!

It's a nice restaurant, but it's not one I would visit if I didn't have two little girls who love the princesses. The have found the food to be pretty bland overall, and the atmosphere can be somewhat hectic and rushed. The restaurant itself is very pretty, and the servers have always been great. My favorite part of the meal is the cold bar. They have a nice selection of salad, cheeses, meats, and bread. The entrees have always left something to be desired although I did enjoy the pork loin.

I hope you don't mind if I completly disagree with you :) When I went, I wasn't rushed at all... and the food was awesome. I went when my son was small and he dressed up like a prince. He had such a great time. I thought it was one of the better meals.

It's nice but be prepared for kid central. We were a large party and were not rushed at all. The cold bar/appetizer bar are on the lighter side. If you worry about seafood allergy that takes about half of it off the plate. I wanted to try the seafood but was worried about my daughter not being exposed to that stuff yet and having a reaction. I know I just worry to much but it could happen. Food was pretty good. Nothing to go screaming about but we were there for the princess's. Our dinner ran into the start of Illuminations. After that was over we took a few rides on Maelstrom during EMH.

I have a video start at the 1:20 mark it's not the best because my camera does no to do well in lowlight conditions and lost quality in conversion/upload.

This has been our experience as well. My fiancee and I (no kids) have enjoyed our meals there. Lunch and dinner are a nice mix of all the different types on TS meals, a buffet for the appitizer, an individual entree served to you and desserts served family style. The cold bar and the desserts are far better than the entrees, I will admit (also breakfast is nothing special either). You can actually order more than one entree if you would like, so if you order something and are not crazy about it, you can swap it for a different entree if you'd like. We have always had great interaction with the princesses, even without kids (can't say the same about most other character meals). Infact, we feel the princesses get into it more when there aren't kids there.

After you get called to be seated, your first stop is to get your picture taken with Belle, which the photo package is included with your meal (which is why it is as expensive as it is). The princesses that visit your table are subject to change, but we have always seen Snow White, Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Ariel, once we saw Cinderella and another time we saw Jasmine.

We went for dinner, and I would highly recommend it for the princess experience, but food-wise, this was the only restaurant in WDW where all four of us unanimously hated the food (2 picky eaters, 2 adventurous eaters). I tell people that if they want the princess experience, they should go for breakfast.

My DD & I have eaten dinner there several times & breakfast once.
Both were good, but we prefer the dinner.
I like the complimentary photo package & the food is good too!

hi there, I have been for breakfast and for dinner. As someone with some what of a picky palate, I did not like the food for dinner (also served at lunch). however, if your husband is Norwegian and likes the food, then he will be right at home. The breakfast is a great standard all american breakfast. it is a great place to see the princesses and its a great dining experience. you do need to hold the reservation with a credit card but it is not charged unless you skip the reservation, then they charge you.

my husband's, who's grandparents are from finland, thought it was cool to eat there for dinner on our 2nd anniversary. I would recommend it. I think you would have a great experience.

We have been there for breakfast and dinner. We have two little princesses who love the atmosphere and can find enough to eat at both. Mom and dad on the other hand really not big fans of the dinner menu and breakfast is pretty typical. However, it's very cost effective if you are on the dining plan or just paying out of pocket. (We have TIW) Dinner has good spirits as well. :slurp:

We've done lunch and dinner (and will probably be trying breakfast next trip) and while we like the menu items, we really love the cold bar. In fact, I think my girls could live on shrimp salad, smoked salmon, cheese and cold cuts! While we've found the check in process to be a little chaotic, we've found things to be very relaxed once seated... never rushed. I must be honest though-- I don't know if we'd go if our girls weren't princess crazed. The actual menu items aren't overly spectacular IMO. I am a big fan though of the servers...we've had very sweet girls both times we went, and my friend who went in December said her 16 yr old daughter was smitten with their male server (so much so that she stopped by on a recent school trip to see if he was there :D). Our first server had a riot trying to teach me how to pronouse Kjottkake.

This restaurant is one of my friend's 'must do' places when on vacation. For me, I could take a break from it for a few years....

Every time I have gone, the service has been phenomenal - never been rushed, always pleasant, fun, friendly....

The food has been iffy - the salad bar was nice (although the last time the shrimp was pretty yucky) but the other selections were quite nice.

The entrees were decent - I had the fish - tasty but small portion -

The princesses were always accommodating - we took pictures, chatted, and never felt like they couldn't wait to get to the next table....

Actually, one of my favorite stories from WDW happened at Akershus....we were there for lunch and one of the princesses (I forget which) came by the table with a Prince and she asked if we would like a picture. My friend Andres does not miss a beat and jumped up from the table, handed the princess the camera and wrapped his arms around the prince. The princess did not know what to do - she asked if we wanted someone to take the picture so she could get in the shot too. Andres looks at her and said, "No, just the boys, take the picture" The princess was so confused - this must have never happened to her before.... we still laugh about it...

All in all - go and enjoy it - it's a pleasant experience and the photo souvenir is a nice touch.....

We've only been for breakfast. I'd like to try the dinner sometime, if I can convince my family. I didn't realize the princesses were there for dinner too. Maybe I can sell them on that. (But Norway doesn't seem like the most natural location for the princesses. Maybe it should be a Hagar the Horrible character meal.)

Had dinner there 3 years ago. I did not care much for the food. I had a stew, can't remember what kind though. However, I thought the atmoshere was nice and the service was good. I have two young daughters so the princess vists were great. The Belle picture is a bonus for sure.

Ate there in 1993 ish and thought the food was really good. Think it was buffet stlye. Remember it to be a beautiful looking dining experience.

Anyone else remember how it used to be before the princess dining ?
