A friend of mine went with a broken leg. It was two weeks before there trip. The family did not cancel the trip but there were a lot of things he was not able to do but still enjoyed himself.

So sorry to hear about your hand!!! One way to look at it. is at least its not your leg. That would have really been an issue!!! honestly, I think you will be fine... If unfortunately you do have to get a cast, the only thing you will not be able to do is swim. Trust me, I broke my arm 4 times with the most recent being about 2 years ago. I went about my daily routine as normal, minus the fact I couldn't get a shower or do my hair by myself :ROFLOL:

Let us know what happens!

I went to WDW a few years ago with a torn ACL. My surgery wasnt scheduled til a few weeks after we got back so all i did was wear a brace, it wasn't too bad. However I did hurt it even more while i was down there and rented one of those scooter things for a day. I was able to go on the rides but it sucked not being able to walk around.

Being that it is your hand you shouldnt have this issue and hopefully it wont affect you much at all. Depending on how bad the injury is maybe put a brace on it and you will forget all about it while enjoying yourself.

Sorry about your hand. I once broke my pinkie knuckle (boxer's fracture) a few days before going on a cruise which was tough due to spending time around the pool and at beaches and stuff. But that's neither here nor there. You shouldn't have too much of an issue at WDW. Just remember to put lotion on your fingers if you get a cast. I know someone who forgot to do that and suffered for it.

I did go to WDW some years ago a couple of days after getting stitches in the back of my head. It was uncomfortable but I dealt with it. Before we left we found out the phone number and location of a clinic that was right off property to take the stitches out a few days into our trip.

I sprained my ankle on one trip a few years back. Walking around the parks was really tough and standing in lines actually hurt as well. Going back to the resort though and soaking it in the hot tub eased the day's journeys and I still had a blast. By the last day it was swollen a bit but I still wouldn't have changed anything. It would take being bedridden to stop me from going to the parks and even then if I could find a way I would

I sprained my ankle the first day of my 2007 trip. I bought an ace bandage and ben gay at the Beach Club Marketplace. I took some advil each day, and I hit the parks. I limped along pretty fast. If I had been anywhere else, I would have sat indoors and taken it easy. Being at WDW motivated me to walk each day.

My 7 y/o daughter broke her arm a couple of weeks before our last trip. By that time she had gotten over the "scared to move it" and she was fine. We skipped the coasters just in case.
On the swim, we were at POFQ and she wanted to watch me go down the slide a couple of times. She kept standing up near the edge of the pool (I told her to sit down like 20 times...but would she listen) and sure enough she fell in. Unbelievably, she landed on her feet and raised her arms up...the water was only chest high so the cast didn't get wet at all.
Since your injury is very recent, be sure to bring you next dose of pain meds with you in the parks...on the upside, you probably won't end up being the one who has to carry all the stuff. :animwink:

Thanx for the stories. Dr said it's probably a really bad case of tendinitis and gave me antiinflammatory meds. Hopefully they will work and ill be off to the parks!!

I lost my head right before a visit two years ago. It was very inconveniant, there was no where to put my mouse ears or sunglasses and I couldnt see the parades.

Back in may of 06' I sprained my ankle about two weeks before my trip. I was worried that I would be on crutches due to it being a severe sprain (I almost broke it). Luckily the day I left I had to go back to the hospital so they could take my splint off and give me a walking boot. I wasn't supposed to walk around a ton so I rented one of those go cart things (Rascals) whatever they are called and found it very easy to get around. In fact after two days of wearing my boot, the swelling and bruising went down and I found that being forced to walk was helping in the healing process. I was allowed to use the handicaped entrance on certain rides due to my injury but honestly I really didn't need to. I think you should be fine just be aware of your limitations and be careful when doing certain things such as getting on and off rides. Also if I were you I would hold my arm close when going through crowds just in case.

Good Luck! Have Fun!
