I am trying to schedule our vacation for my DD first bday. DD birthday is the day after thanksgiving. What is it like in the World during Thanksgiving? This will be my husbands first time and I dont want to scary him away the first trip. I figured we could fly down on Thanksgiving day and then come home on monday. What do you guys think. Thanks in advance:wave:

Thanksgiving is getting to be pretty crowded anymore. We were there in '06, and wait times for popular attractions were in the 90-minute range. My advice, get up early, use fastpass, take a break in the afternoon, and hit some evening EMH's. You probably still won't be able to do everything in the time fraom you have planned, but hey, that's a good reason to go back (it's the best excuse I use it all the time!) Make sure you have all your meal reservations, too.

Do you have to go over Thanksgiving due to work schedules, or could you go the week before or after? If you are flexible, I would really choose another time....you will probably want to do alot of rides in Fantasty Land with her and do alot of character meet and greets....if you go another time, your wait time will be so much less!!
But I understand if that is the only time you can go. We only have one trip left before we have to start going during holidays because of my son's school schedule.
Either way, you will have a blast with her....we took our daughter when she had just turned one and she loved it!

OMG!! I sooooo wish we could go off peak. But I might be getting a new job and it would look bad if I took a week or even 4 days off my first year.

You would be better off if you can shift the dates a little so that you come home on Thanksgiving Day, or the morning after.

During Thanksgiving week the crowds build up.
Before Thanksgiving Day itself they are very manageable and not too bad but starting on Thanksgiving Day they go to the 'this is crazy' level.

Plan your trip to be there early during Thanksgiving week and then get out of there, if possible.

Good luck.

I would either go the week before or the following Monday after Thanksgiving, if at all possible. In fact, we will be going Nov. 29- Dec. 7, 2008, due to crowd levels and LOVING the Disney Christmas decorations and themes. Good luck and have a great trip:xmas:

Hey Pittsfield MA, Fitchburg MA will be down their the 2nd thru the 9th.

It is a great time to go with crowds levels and the Christmas decorations. We love that time of year, this will be 4th year that we have done it.

I will echo what Tiggerfanatic said, plan to be at the parks AT opening. You will have about two good hours of reasonable crowds and can get FP's for some early afternoon activities. Have your time planned as well as possible to get to where you want to go and save the leisurely strolls, return to the hotel for a break or pool time for the afternoon. We just got back from visiting over Easter (not my preferred time), and if that can be managed, any other time of the year can!

You should plan any sit down meals and make your reservations early (quick estimate of around May for your trip....you can make them 180 days prior) Some restaurants have special Thanksgiving meals if you want (see link).

There will also be Christmas decorations up, so you'd want to plan some time in your evenings to experience that (see second link for summary).

To ease some of the burden of planning, and for some help in making activity suggestions, consider giving Kingdom Konsultants a call. There is no cost, and they can help a lot in organizing, making your reservations and getting you the best price for your trip.
