When we travel, DW always has to bring her personal pillows with us. We’ve never slept in any hotel or resort that has pillows that give her the comfort she’s looking for. In all our trips to Dis or other destinations we’ve never had a pillow removed.

I don't care what the valuable-to-you item is. I travel for a living. I have learned my lesson. If something means something to you, pack it away.

Does the OP have their pillow? No. They don't. lol.
Your implication was that the staff is wildly unpredictable in what they do in a room. I think they clean the room, not go out of their way to upset guests by throwing away keepsakes. Most people have had their mother or father accidentally throw away a treasured shirt or something, for me it was a vinyl print of the Afghan Whigs "Black Love". I got over it. We don't expect mom and dad to be perfect so let's not expect more from a housekeeper

No reason for the OP to post a follow-up. Either a troll or a poster who now lnows the chances of recovery is zero.

I may give the OP the benefit of the doubt, even though your explanation is more likely

It still makes absolutely zero sense. Housekeeping never removes pillows from a room whether they belong to the resort or to anyone else. Unless this was some type of next level, Elon Musk expensive one of a kind pillow it didn’t go down as the OP stated.

That was your implication. Lol.

Either way... I kind of agree with that though. I wouldn't say "wildly." But people are unpredictable. You don't know these people.

And it doesn't have to be malicious for something to happen. Again. Does the OP have their pillow?

I had some miscellaneous things left out on the table at our last trip to French Quarter - maps, beads, etc. Yet the only thing missing was my case of EarPlanes left in their carrying case. I looked under everything for them in case they fell and they were no where to be seen. I can only imagine the disappointment of the housekeeping staff who took them when they realized they were only a pair of used ear plugs and not music ear buds LOL 🤣

I'm sorry but were you there? How can they be there when I went to the parks that morning (because I had taken out of my bags to get ready for our departure flight and I would need them easily accessible) and then gone in the afternoon after housekeeping came into the room? I don't understand how you can be so positive that something didn't happen when you were in no way involved. Just because it's never happened to you doesn't mean that it hasn't happened to others.

I think he just means it’s highly unlikely. The internet is full of stories of people who misplace or forget things and blame housekeeping. Not to say that’s what happened in your case because no one knows for certain.

I think what is more likely is they were misplaced by you or the staff accidentally threw them out. Stole them, of course anything is possible but, I dunno.

I thought I had "lost" an expensive watch in a hotel room. I spoke with the front desk and gave them my address and phone number in case they found it.

I was lamenting my loss to a friend and he told me to check the lining of my suitcase, and ALL of my pockets. Sure enough, it had slipped inside my suitcase and got stuck in the lining. Probably happened when I was packing and it slid off the dresser into the case, and got jostled during my travels into an area where the lining wasn't zipped tightly.

I've been much more careful with any valuables since then, and never bring anything that I would be heartbroken to lose.

This ^^^^^

I never bring jewellery with me other than a silver chain and pendant. And my rings which can’t come off any more!

I once thought I’d lost my engagement ring on a domestic flight to my brother’s wedding. I found it a few weeks later, after contacting the airline, airports, hotel, wedding venue etc, in a zip pocket in my purse.

I wouldn’t take anything precious or sentimental with me on any vacation.

I'd bet all the riches in Babylon that nobody stole your earplugs, and that no Disney housekeeper has ever stolen anybody's earplugs.

"Housekeepers are thieves" is a disgusting trope rooted in classism at best and some other -isms at worst.

Then you would be losing all of Babylon's riches! I guess you never saw the news from April 2022 when the police operated a sting operation at PO Riverside to catch thieving housekeepers? And there was an arrest in May 2017 with a housekeeper at OKW. I can't post the links but a simple Google search would prove you wrong. Plus, I never said they tried to steal earplugs. I said they tried to steal ear buds and got stuck with earplugs LOL. That's a big difference. I looked everywhere it could've fallen before I decided it had to be the housekeeper. When everything else is left in place and they were the only thing missing, and it's not possible for them to get up and walk away, then the only possibility was they were taken by someone. And it wasn't my husband so it had to be housekeeping. They were in a case so it was very easy to mistake for expensive ear buds. I think it's very wrong of you to falsely accuse others of lying or "-isms" for talking about something that has happened multiple times to other people. My aunt was a housekeeper for all of my life so you can't accuse me of classism but nice attempt....

There isn't a huge black market for used ear plugs?

Nope because I had just taken them out of the bag and put them on the table next to everything else I would need to put in my pocket for our departure flight while we were out. The "trash" was left behind on the table and it was impossible to misplace them in that short of a time. I thought it was hilarious bc they looked like earbuds case. I never said they tried to steal ear plugs LOL.

I never travel with expensive anythings. I keep my engagement and wedding rings locked at home and I wear a cheap silicone ring when on vacation. And if it comes off in the pool then I don't have to worry about a panic attack LOL. Plus, I find the silicone rings more comfortable because they expand with my fingers in the FL humidity. I forgot to take off a sentimental necklace during our last trip (which I never take off) and was upset with myself. I wore it the entire time because I would notice immediately if it fell off. I usually don't take anything expensive with me, not because I distrust housekeeping, but because I don't trust the airline to not lose my luggage.

Was the case locked? Seems if someone was going to go through the trouble of stealing something they would at least look in the case. Unless you put earplugs in some kind of expensive charging case (and you said they were in an EarPlanes carrying case), I don’t see anyone making that kind of mistake, especially if they were going to risk their job by stealing from guests.

People misremember and misplace things all the time and blame housekeepers. It’s not uncommon at all.

No, it was just a small ear plug case. Anything that had minimal value was already in my locked suitcase. It's not hard to think that someone grabbed them especially when one of the housekeepers Disney arrested years ago admitted to the officers he stole small things from rooms he didn't think would be missed - this guy even stole stupid things like keychains! Most of the time thefts are just crimes of opportunity and housekeepers who steal don't have much time in each room. It was left out, it looked like it might be AirPods or equivalent, easily grabbed and pocketed, and tossed later if it isn't. There was even an arrest of a WDW housekeeper going into room safes to steal money (several years ago maybe). I think that happens a lot less often than a simple grab and go but crap happens everywhere. I just feel bad for the good housekeepers (like my aunt) who get looked on suspiciously just because of the actions of a few bad ones. But to think housekeepers never steal, and that things like that never happen at Disney resorts, is just really naïve. After searching everywhere for it, and knowing where it was (impossible to fall off by itself), the only remaining option was housekeeping. It was frustrating because I had bad ear pain during the flight home and I couldn't find any to buy at the airport but I still laughed when I thought about the disappointment to realize what they were. I think small things like that are usually taken because they are less likely to be reported stolen.
