I really don't care for this Theme Park Food. However, I'm Vegan which makes the majority of food offerings inaccessible. I still think the prices are absurd regardless of what I choose to ingest. There's never going to be anything comparable Vegan in a place like Disneyland, but I respect that. Why should there be? The majority of its guests would rather eat meat and cheese and I can't really argue with it statistically.

Have you tried the Vegetarian Ronto wrap? This meat eater vouches for it

I don’t know why I thought you lived out here. I think Plaza Inn is pretty good especially when you consider it’s at a theme park. One of these days I’ll make it out to Knotts and give it a try. Gus’ I think it’s the best fried chicken I’ve had. There’s a couple locations out here in So Cal. It’s hard to say though because I’ve had a lot of fried chicken over the years and there are many different styles. Hard to compare chicken that you’ve eaten years apart.
I live in Arizona but I'll tell you now, I would drive the 6 hours just for Mrs. Knott's Chicken and drive right back when I am done. IT'S THAT GOOD.

You’re vegan? How millenial liberal

I think the hype is misconstrued. It’s a park staple at this point. Almost at the level of dole whips. Certain food becomes popular over time because of tradition and the fact that you’re eating it Disneyland. Ambiance can bump up the flavor a little too sometimes. I also think people are pleasantly surprised that that caliber fried chicken is available at a theme park. I never ate at Plaza Inn when I was a kid. From what I understand the chicken has been there for a while. Meaning it was around when there wasn’t many options and all you could find were nasty burgers. With that said, all other factors aside I do think Plaza Inn serves solid fried chicken.

If the “hype” comes before ones first time trying something I think it’s almost impossible to meet expectations. With that said, I don’t ever really see people saying it’s best thing they ve ever eaten. It’s more like it’s their favorite or one of their favorite things to eat at Disneyland and part of the experience.
It is a really cute little place and I do like the atmosphere. I'm more into the desserts there and watching fireworks tableside.

I think in terms of food tiers I'd rank it even below both the tommorowland pizza and the hungry bear dry burgers. Desserts are great though and it is a nice location/setting.

No comparison... Plaza Inn has proper southern fried chicken (for a themepark)... Flo's has... a knock off version with somehow lower quality chicken... and a batter that is just... not good. It's too crispy... and its flavor is... just... not as good.

I can't really explain Flo's chicken. I just know I did not like it the one time I ate it (reminded me of cheap cafeteria fried chicken). No one who has had both prefers Flo's nor likes it.
Actually, my.understanding is that everything is the same in terms of recipes and therein lies the problem. The chicken is cooked using a different method at Plaza Inn than at Flo's and it brings out the flavor and results in better crispness. Had they adjusted the recipe for the different cooking method, Flo's could compete.

Best fried chicken I've had in SoCal is at a little hoighty toighty place called Shenandoah at the Arbor. It's a dainty little place with a nice outdoor patio garden that is worthwhile for a nice meal on a cool late summer evening. They do boneless fried chicken there and it's pretty darn good.

Roscoes... I've eaten there 3 times (different locations) and twice it was a major let down... chicken was worse than a bad day at KFC... but ONE time (the Anaheim location actually) it was piping hot, fresh, and was honestly fantastic, great flavor. I've been meaning to go again and see what my luck turns out.

Best fried chicken I've ever had was a little joint in Portland called Basilisk that serves fried chicken thigh sandwiches. That was a life changing sandwich... soooo good.
Actually, Gus's Fried Chicken (various locations across the country) blows them all, even Knott's, Plaza and Flos (except possibly the one in Portland, haven't been there) out of the water. Just do not get the strips, stick to the bone in.

I'm guessing you haven't been lately (well before the COVID shutdown), Disney World was doing more first, but there are some great vegan options, even now at Disneyland there are great vegan options, such as the Rontoless Wrap in Galaxy's Edge and there is an option at DCAs Mexican food place, can't remember what it.is currently, but it rivals anything meat based. Also, there is the Cauliflower "steak" sandwich at Red Rose Tavern.

I am not vegan, but even I will sometimes order these just because they are what sounds good and in some cases they are actually the best options on the menus. Some other items that have fallen into this category for me at Disney World were/are:
"Gouda" Grilled Cheese
Various impossible burgers (I have had some really bad and really good impossible burgers outside Disney though)
Vegan Bangers and Mash
Meatless meatballs and spaghetti at Tony's Town Square (best thing on their menu and actually makes it worth eating there)
Portobello Pot Roast
Various vegan desserts

Incidentally, in every case above the cost is similar to or less than what I would pay at Native Foods or Plant Powered Fast Food for something comparable, especially with an AP or DVC discount.

Never ever strips when good ol fried chicken on the bone is available.

As a meat eater, I love most if not all the Impossible offerings they have in the parks and really liked the ones they offered in Pym Test Kitchen. I get them once in a while when I feel like it because I know the environmental impact of plant-based protein is much lower than meat, plus they're pretty delicious too.

Well, considering Naples doesn't have anything resembling Pizza either, they.kust have a deal with Pizza Press and Blaze to drive up their sales.
I always read how good their pizza is. I haven't been there in about 15 years, but I figured that it must be good since they've been in that location for so long.

Not sure who is writing those reviews, it's cold, nasty and bland, but one step above Disney Pizza, which doesn't say much
