Plastic shopping bags

Here you go, money talks and Disney is concerned with the environment😂😂😂😂😂
lol now see the Disney geek in me would use that bag until the lettering fell off. Just because it's unique. Now I'm not under any illusions that disney is doing this for some altruistic reason but hey, if both things (help the environment while save a few bucks) turns out to be true, why not?

I am happy to report that the demise of plastic straws and free plastic shopping bags were greatly exaggerated. I was at the Magic Kingdom a couple of days ago, and straws were freely accessible in the typical guest accessible plastic straw dispensers. Also present was the beautiful, glorious, free plastic shopping bags..

I also notice that the larger plastic shopping bags now have an additional handle instead of the oval holes it the top like the smaller bags have. Very nice.

If ziplock really wanted to impress, how about a poncho with splash mountain on the back. That is really needed. I have taken pictures with cellphone and camera, no problem with water on the fall. Now clothes could use a poncho which sometimes I have with me and sometimes not.

The larger bags have had handles for a long time. We had the same experience as you did just last week wrt straws and bags. The one change I noticed was when buying some items at the Contemporary store (water, coffee, etc.) we were given large, boring, plain paper grocery bags. I don't recall getting those before. Seemed like a fine option for the grocery items to me.

They have removed the lids though I recall lips on kids drinks at ohana (I think). Plastic bags are there but on a few occasions I have observed the cm asking of the customer wanted a bag. I asked for a bag to put my umbrella in and after asking me why did I want a bag, he gave me a clear bag. Assuming maybe he thought I was trying to steal.

Normally I don't bring posts back from the past...But, I've notice that they are still using plastic bags for shopping at the parks and Springs....I thought they were eliminating this and encouraging guest to buy the other bags?

I have re-usable grocery bags I've been using for 15 years. I've gone over a year without a single plastic bag from Publix or other grocery stores.

Us too, but where we live plastic bags are not always available. I live in Round Rock, TX, which is a suburb of Austin. Inside Austin city limits they don't give out bags with groceries. Even though I'm out of the city limits, most people around here take their own bags to the store anyway. It becomes habit. However, since I'm out of the city limits and when I get low on plastic bags, then I'll go grocery shopping and get them because we reuse them for things like scooping the litter box and picking up dog poop, which really is the only things those flimsy plastic bags are good for. P.S. - Sorry, I did not realize I was commenting on such an old post until I got to the end!!

This is why I gave the fair warning about it when I reposted this rather to make a new topic of a topic already being discussed..

You might say, they are one of the few things that actually came back - instead of getting cut- since the pandemic. For a period of time (I want to say; early 2020), plastic bags were eliminated. Disney reversed course though. It was kind of outrageous when there were no bags because the only option was to pay $2+ for one of their reusable bags. Mind, I generally like reusable bags, but WDW has drenching DOWNPOURS. Plastic bags fold over easily, but the reusable ones are as helpful if your goal is to keep a purchase dry.

Or the opposite, your clothes get wet, and you want to put them in a bag to keep everything else dry. Maybe people shouldn't expect plastic bags, but at WDW they do, and WDW sells LOTS of merchandise that people want to keep dry: paper, collectables, any packaging they want to preserve. I'm picturing like the Funko Pop! collectables. If you can't keep the box dry, that's a problem for many folks.

Theme parks are a little tricky because customers are partly trained to carry less, but then encouraged to buy more.

Mostly, I imagine the no bags hit WDW's bottom line. I imagine people just said, "no bags = no shopping."

I didn't know it was an old post until I saw your comment lol. Sometimes people get upset because someone brings back an old post and other times people get told "there's another post about this" when they ask a question. It's all good!
