Not automatically! You or your travel agent will need to call and see if the new discount can be applied to your existing reservation. Sometimes you need to change resorts to find availability, as they only make a certain number of rooms available for each discount at each resort.
If it can be applied successfully, yes, you would get a refund.

Kinda. Sometimes you will just have to cancel the trip, then rebook to make the discount applicable

If you book your reservations with Kingdom Konsultants they will switch your reservation automatically if you are eligible or advise you that you could get the deal, but you'd have to switch to another hotel. You won't have to be on the look out for deals and call them to ask for them, they are proactive on that front where most travel agents are not because it means they will get less of a commisssion, but KK's puts their clients first and looks to save them money.

If you book a room directly through Disney, they will refund the difference on your balance due.

But in booking with disney "you" have to be the one to find the special offer and then call them to get it applied. They won't do it automatically.

Call them yourself, but they will hook you up once you give them the discount code.
We did it last year...saved $400 bucks...and immediately used it to bump up to the AKL from POFQ!

Yeppers! That is what I did this trip...twice. I always just booked straight up on WDW. But then I got on the boards this year and saw discounts and pin codes. So the first time I added the SC resident discount and i had to cancel and rebook, so i had to put down the deposit again and then was credited the balance I had already paid. Then i did it again two weeks later - when I discovered the amazing world of pin codes and that I had one! So I had to cancel again, and then put the deposit down and got credited. I believe, and if I am not correct, someone please let me now, i think you can just change your ressie if you are going from one package to another package. I went from package, to room only, back to package - that is why, I believe, i had to keep canceling. I hope this helps!!
