Greetings, I'm discussing with a friend a possible trip next year to WDW. I'm interested to know what both the weather and crowds are like during this time of the year. The dates we're looking at is two weeks from the 8th of Oct.

For that time of year, Touring Plans is kind of all over the place depending on the dates. Bust mostly, around 6 during the week with 9 on the weekends. From personal experience, my DH and I went much later in the month ( from the 27th to the 30th) and with the exception of the 29th, we didn't experience heavy crowds at all. As for temperature, it was far more warm and humid then we thought it would. It was in the 80's and mostly pleasant but the humid was high toward the end of our trip.

I do like going in October. Mostly late September and early October. A two week trip! So fun!

We always go for two weeks at the beginning of October (so you would be there for our second week...)

We love it at that time because generally, the crowds are a lot lower, it's warm without being unbearably hot and of course, you have the Halloween decorations and parties.

However, the past couple of times we have been, we have found that there are more and more tour groups at that time and we have been rained out of the shows a few times (this last time, Fantasmic on our last night :() although I believe this is becoming true of most times!

My now fiancee and I went the last week of this past October and it is probably our new favorite time of year to go. The weather was basically perfect for the 11 days we were there (not so much up here in the North East since a freak snowstorm forced us to stay an extra 3 days... drats). I think it rained one morning and the temps were basically in the mid-80's every day. I think there were 2 days that we spent just at our resort (AKL) just hanging out by the pool or in the hot tubs. Over 2 weeks durring that time of year you could deffinately get some good use out of the Water Parks and More option if you wanted.

The crowds were not bad, as the PP mentioned, but it seems the gloriousness of this time of year is starting to catch on. I used to hear that the crowds were non-existant this time of year, but that doesn't seem to be the case any more. However, the crowds for us were still very managable. Your biggest issue will be having to deal with Columbus Day weekend, which will spike the crowds for a few days. Also, the WS will be a nightmare on the weekends due to F&W. However, the corwds for F&W are pretty low durring the week, unless there is a big concert. Durring the week, the night we saw Boyz II Men was pretty packed, but the night we saw the Gin Blossoms it was pretty low (Gin Blossoms were by far the better performance, BIIM spent too much time plugging their new album). But then again the concerts are free so I shouldn't complain.

MK really gets into the Halloween feel. MSUSA looks great. It is a much different feel than mid-January or May or August or Christmas/NYE. There seemed to be extra characters and PhotoPass photogs around (probably due to MNSSHP). MNSSHP was something great to do, but we are in no rush to do it again. There are some things about it that are great and other things that I think they need to re-think. I'm still walking around singing the Boo to You parade song.

To sum it all up, the F&W is enough to sell us on this being the best time of year, but there is a lot more going on. Not to mention that the weather was great and the crowds were managable.

The week of Columbus Day is pretty crowded due to a vacation week in the south. We stayed at CSR. The resort was totally peaceful and relaxing. Due to medical conditions, my mom was not able to be up and out of our room by 8am. So, we didn't get to the parks till around 10 or 11. If you can get to the parks early and get your Fast Passes and have made your ADR's in advance, you will be all set. Make sure to set aside two days for EPCOT and the F&W Festival. You won't regret it!

This is our favorite time of year to go, the weather is still warm enough to swim, but not too hot and the crowds are low plus Halloween is going on which is my favorite holiday.

Thanks for the response:)

I have taken all feedback and passed it on to my friend. Personally I'm up for visiting at this time. Always wanted to check out Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, Food and Wine Festival and Universal Horror Nights. So this all sounds great to me. I will need to convince them about F&W but if we're visiting Epcot anyway it'll do no harm to check it out for an hour while we in World Showcase.
