Planning for an Afternoon at DHS

My family of 3 is planning to arrive at DHS on Monday Nov 3 around 1 pm. It's our only day there. Our 3 must-sees are Toy Story Mania ,ToT and RocknRollerCoaster.
Also we have a 3:45 ADR at Sci-Fi for a snack or milkshake. Any suggestions on how best to get all of this in most efficiently? (We will cancel Sci-Fi if needed in order to get the rides in) Thank you!!!:veryconfu

TSM will be hard to do arriving that late. Fast passes are typically gone by noon which only leaves you with waiting in and hour plus stand by line. I would make a quick drive by as TSM. If fast passes are available get one if not head to RnRC and get one for it. Depending on the crowds you might be able to fit in ToT and RnRC before Sci-fi. After that you can wait in the long stand by line for TSM.

If a second opinion is needed, I would follow this exact plan.

My husband and I were just there in September and even though it was a really slow time the fast passes for TSM were gone by one and the stand by time reached 180 minutes. That said- we got there at opeining and managed to do TSM three times in a day without spending more than an hour in line total!

The only other thing that I can add to what you were already told is that the board is your friend! Check the times before you hike back to TOT and RNRC!

Here's my suggestion. Do MGM in the early part of the day. Get there at opening and do TSM using stand-by. Then go over to ToT and Aerosmith. Fastpass one and ride the other. Go back to TSM and fastpass it. Do Muppets and then lunch at Sci-Fi. Go back to TSM and use your fastpass.

Being thatb you are only arriving at 1 to DHS, you may want to cancel you SCI- Fi ressie. Fast passes will also be gone, as already stated, so you will be waiting in lines more. Master Yoda's suggestions were right on, though.:) Have fun. We love DHS.

Thanks for all the input! Where is the board in DHS that gives you wait times? Does it also tell you if a ride or attraction is out of fastpasses, and what time the fastpass returns are?

The board is next to the entrance of sunset blvd or about 200 feet in front of the hat. I am not sure if it tells you if fast passes are gone or not but I know that it does not tell you what time they are currently for.

This sounds like a good plan to me as well. :)

Can you imagine how crazy it would be for the poor cast member at the board to try and keep it updated for the fastpass return time? In the time it took me to put my husbands ticket in (right after mine) the fastpasses had gone up by 5 minutes. Anyway, the board was really easy to find and the other person got the location spot on. Good luck!

Only problem being by the time you get back to TSM, the Fastpasses will be for around closing time or gone completely.

I was at DHS last Monday and arrived around 4pm. My group had no problem riding everything you want to ride. Were we lucky, probably, but here's what we did.

We went to RnRC and got a FP. While waiting, we went on ToT twice (almost a walk-on) and then back over to RnRC to use our FP.

After this, we checked the big board of waits and saw that TSM was still running a 30 minute wait. Not wanting to wait, we hit the bar over at the 50's cafe for a few beverages and about 30 minutes before the park closed (no EMH) we went over to TSM and waited ten minutes. We were able to ride twice before Mickey sent us back over to Epcot!

Good luck with your fun!

You were really lucky to get on TSM like that! When we went almost everything else was a virtual walk-on. I mean if we saw a 20 minute wait we would say I am not waiting 20 minutes, that is too long and when we came back and looked again there was no problem. Then we went to Hollywood Studios. I told my husband that we needed to beeline for TSM and he would not listen to me. He just kind of petered along stopping to shop and look at shrubs and such like those weren't going to be there later! When I finally did get him over there (within 20 minutes of park opening mind you!) the fastpass was up to 11:45. I waited with our tickets to get the fastpasses in a line with only 3 people in it... our fastpasses said 12:50 and 12:55. Now I have to admit that the second guy in line was so wonderful that he stood there and waited until his wife was at the front of her line before getting his fastpass so probably 7 people went in the amount of time it took our three to go but still. Anyway, we then went over to Voyage of the Little Mermaid and layhouse Disney. Those two we managed to get to right as the shows were starting so between the two we were away from TSM for maybe an hour... when we went back over the sign saying that all fastpasses were gone was up and the wait time was at 120 minutes.

For our second day at DHS we did much better. We went straight to TSM. We got our fastpasses and then did stand by. When we were done with our standby it was only two minutes til our fastpasses were usable so we got new fastpasses and then used our first fastpasses. When we got off that time we did everything else that we wanted to do and then rode TSM for our third time that day. It is definitely not a ride you get sick of. I could go for a ride on TSM right now actually!
