Planning a trip for the 17-23rd

So we're planning a trip for the week before Christmas, and my mom told me sopmebody told her the parks had been closed before due to crowding. I know that the waterparks have closed due to this before, but is that time really so crowded that this happens? I'll change my time of year if this is so.

Any of the parks will close to day guests once it reaches capacity. Apparantly, Disney resort guests can still enter once it is closed to the public, although I don't know why you'd want to. The water parks are smaller and tend to fill to capacity in the warmer months - there's almost no danger of that happening during December. The last theme park to close due to capacity (if I remember correctly) was Animal Kingdom last April. The parks are quite busy around Christmastime, but I have not experienced one closing at capacity the week leading up to Christmas. Is it possible? Yes. It is. Do I know what the statistical likelihood is that it will happen? No.

In most years, the parks are hitting capacity during the week between Christmas and New Years, not before.

That said, Christmas is on a Tuesday this year, meaning an extended vacation for most people (starting Friday the 21st basically) so that might mean bigger crowds for the days leading up.

And with bigger crowds at the resort in general, thats another sign pointing to it being extremely busy.
