Planet Hollywood - Remember when it was cool?

I'd say back in the late 90's, they used to always play movie clips, movie montages, trailers, clips from different Planet Hollywoods. Now, it's become more like the Hard Rock Cafe except with really crappy music videos. We were in there a couple weeks ago, and on the TV monitors it was giving a rundown of the top 10 films at the box office - From the 2nd week of July, 2011.

It used to be themed so well. They've really ruined the place. It has a confused identity now.

OMG it used to be awesome!! The perks from MYW packages sooo made this a great deal. I agree, its much like HRC in NYC and let me tell you, that's not a plus.

I'm surprised Disney doesn't step in and try and force them to get it back to it's former self. It used to be the spot to go go for dinner at DTD. Now, it's an afterthought.

Yeah I'm not all bout it myself. I was a just a kid in the 90's so I don't remember its glory days. But I do remember the first time I ate there I liked it. Now I still will go there from time to time cause honestly I like their food but the environment annoys me. Stupid music I'm not into blasting and the same old movie props that haven't moved. The staff I've always liked though.

Never been to the DTD one, but was at the Myrtle Beach one. Not my style, unfortunately.:) I do like House of Blues though. I used to really like Hard Rock Cafe when I was younger!;)

You're so right. We went there twice in 1999 and 2000, and both times it was packed. You really felt cool once it was finally time to be escorted to your table. I don't know why we stopped going back, but it sounds like everyone else has moved on as well.

I can so remember in the early 90s planning our day around getting in that Planet Hollywood line early. We felt so important with the attendants in the bathrooms with the different creams and perfumes (I think). At Disneyland Paris you used to be able to get in to the VIP entrance without waiting in line just because you were AP holders - always fun to have people try to guess who you were...Maybe theming the movies to Disney hits would make it more relevant - who knows...

It used to be a cool place. I remember in the 90's getting a free key chain in the MYW voucher pack, and not a cheap plastic one either. I also remember meeting Cindy Crawford their for a book signing. It was complete coincidence, but still pretty cool at the time. We don't go anymore because it looks like a dump from the outside and the menu has no appeal. Better call Sly and Arnold in for some cash.

I haven't eaten at the PH in Orlando. But I did eat at the PH in NYC. Unfortunately, we were seated under this:

Totally killed my appetite.

All I remember from Planet Hollywood is the spicy Thai shirmp pasta. I wanted spice, but not that much. Holy crap I couldn't even finish it. It might've been laced with ghost peppers. That's the only thing I can remember, the rest was a afterthought. Definately no Hollywood experience for me.

It's sad really was always a must do for us every trip, and I think we have been on every trip from 1999 to 2010. This year we are not bothering- going to go to T-Rex instead.

T-Rex is a noise factory. So much so the waiter we had, got all ed it seemed cause he couldn't hear our orders over the dinos and the voice levels of the diners
