What is the best unexpected thing to happen to you while in the world?

For me, my wife and I were walking into EPCOT through the IG, when a cast member asked us if we wanted to meet a princess. Of course we said yes and she took us over to meet Ariel. It turned into a nice encountered has we had a fun little conversation.

Our Grand Floridian standard room for the 3 days we were staying there was upgraded to a water view room. Was totally not expecting that at all. A bit if Disney MAgic from the GF staff and Disney Weddings group.

Getting to soft open Alien Encounter in early December '94.

Somebody at ECPOT walked by and gave us fast passes to Soarin', we also had somebody randomly give us one of those yellow sheets that is essentially a group fastpass to any ride in whatever park you are in.

The first time using MDE I deleted our 7DMT reservations by accident. I couldn't get them back or make new ones. When it came time for our MK day, we talked to a CM at the Philharmagic kiosk and he added our reservations back.

A few years ago we (my wife and I and our twin son's who were 11 at the time) were in Hollywood Studios for Star Wars week and I believe we were trying to see if we could get a pass for an autograph reservation - but we were too late and they were all gone.
As we walked away, a cast member approached us and asked us what we were trying to get - and if we were successful.
We told her that we weren't.
She then asked if our son's would like to be in the Star Wars parade!
One son declined (nervous about it) but the other happily said yes.
We brought him over to the required location at the time we were told, and they allowed me to go backstage with him where they suited him and the other kids up as Jedi's to lead the parade right behind Mickey's X-wing.
A once in a lifetime experience.

On our trip last month we had reserved a standard view room at AKL and expected to look at a parking lot all week. We were given an "obstructed" view of the savanna- I'm not sure what was supposedly obstructing our view because we could see all the animals outside the room perfectly.

I'd be happy just to stay at GF. Not going to happen on my budget.

In 2016 we were having breakfast at Crystal Palace. The server saw my Fire Dept shirt was the city she was from so she gave us some extra attention and joked with us. Then she sent an older gentleman over who talked with us for about 20 minutes before asking if we wanted to be the Grand Marshal family for the afternoon parade. This included 2 photographers that followed us the entire time we were on the parade route and while we were in the special viewing area as well as we could have any character in the parade stop and pose for us. Most magical experience in 18 trips to the World!

My dad had bought some Disney hopper passes back in the mid 1990s from someone at our resort and at the end of a nice day at Magic Kingdom he went to City Hall and doubled checked how much we had left on them. To our surprise there was an extra day that the person selling probably didn't realize about.

My dad also had his hat mailed to him after a couple weeks when he lost it on Splash Mountain. My wife once had her sunglasses mailed to her after leaving them on either one of Pirates or the Tiki Birds. We weren't sure, but either way we still got them back.

Last year I was trying to get on the monorail. I know there are ways you can get on there for free by doing things like going on the bus and getting off at a resort where the monorail comes to but I was going to try a short cut. It was the middle of the day, I figured I would try and get into Epcot's parking lot if I just explained to them I was only interested in going on the monorail. It would avoid the $22 parking fee. Once I got to the ticket window the guy literally said to me: "So, you just want to go on the monorail, not go into Epcot." I told him that was correct. His response was: "Well, here is some pixie dust, go ahead, have a magical day." My cousin was floored.

The first time I visited Animal Kingdom, I guess because I was walking on one of the animal trails early in the morning when foot traffic there is usually very low, a cast member was handing out sheets with fast passes for every attraction in the park. It was simply an example of being in the right place at the right time. The rumor apparently spread very fast, because within a few minutes there was a rush of people looking for her. By that point however, all of the passes were distributed and the cast member had returned to whatever her usual job entailed.

Had to be last February at Epcot when we were driving into the parking lot, and two CM's directed me into a lane that took us directly to a grassy field DIRECTLY across from the Epcot entrance. I mean, probably 100 feet from the actual entrance!

I told the CM who was parking us we weren't handicap and there must be a mistake, and he just smiled and said 'have a MAGICAL day, my friend!'

We were stunned, and SO happy to be so close to our vehicle at the end of the day!!!

Regards! Michaelson

Back in the early 2000s, I bought these super cool Mickey sunglasses (I should look for a picture - the lenses were shaped like Mickey heads, they were tinted light blue, and had little stones in the ears). I wore them the entire trip and received so many compliments. When I went through AP security coming home, my bag was crushed and they were broken. I was super disappointed. When I got home and showed my mom how cool my sunglasses, "were", my mom (unbeknownst to me) called WDW to see if she could order me a new pair. Even my mom was surprised when Disney insisted on sending me a new pair for free -- I was both surprised at my mom's sweet gesture, and how nice it was of Disney to send me a new pair!

A little over 5 years ago while I was planning my Disney wedding, I wanted to do something special in the parks on my honeymoon. I had been a longtime passholder, and wanted to do something that was totally new and special to me and my now-husband. We decided on Dolphins in Depth, and booked it for a few days after our wedding. Unfortunately, about two months before our wedding I received an email from a CM at The Living Seas. The dolphin tank would be refurbished during our trip, and she had refunded the cost of our experience to my debit card. I responded and asked what else she might recommend for a "wow" event to celebrate our honeymoon. I explained that I was a passholder, but had never really experienced tours and other unique experiences, so I would appreciate any suggestions.

She responded and let me know that the Seas Aqua Tour was another amazing experience at Epcot....and proceeded to tell me she had booked my husband and I for the tour on the same day as our previous reservation, but that there was no charge. It was "a wedding present from the Cast at The Seas." I was floored, and completely touched. We ended up having an AMAZING time on the tour (snorkeling in the tank is honestly the coolest thing -- sharks swimming below you, swimming alongside stingrays and sea turtles -- a stingray kept following me and tickling my legs; it was just beyond cool).

We've had some little pinches of pixie dust in recent years, but nothing more dramatic than a CM allowing us to tap into a FP a few minutes early so we could arrive to a dining reservation on time, or getting to ride Voyage of the Little Mermaid during a soft opening.

The pixie dust moments that surprised and excited me most were the times, growing up (on about 3 occasions that I can recall) that we were offered rides in the front cab of the monorail. (My mother happened to be drop-dead gorgeous, which is why, I suspect, the male drivers "randomly" selected our family for the privilege. ;) ) The fact that you can't do this anymore makes it even more special.

So many to choose from...
The CM who bought us lunch at Liberty Inn for no reason what so ever.
The platter of treats delivered to our room at Wilderness Lodge for "giving your side of the story"
Everything that happened on my daughter's Make a Wish trip.

And, I hope my wife would say, when I proposed in front of the Castle.

Our last visit, 2 yrs. ago, was a standard room at Poly and they met us at the bus and escorted us to club level. We were so excited and only had to purchase very little food for our trip. Ate in the club most of the time.
