Right. This whole thing is so bad it’s comical. I literally laughed while reading the article.

My faith in Disney continues to wain.
WDW gets one of the greatest fireworks shows in the last 10 years, Disneyland gets... a drunk-Lasseter-fueled extravaganza. I really don't know whether to laugh or cry.

@GiveMeTheMusic , is the show being developed by Steve Davison and/or his team? Guessing so but I wanted to make sure.

The grass is always greener. We’ve gotten a lot of things and investment over the past 10+ years over here in California. I liked Disneyland Forever. The investment itself isn’t the problem for me. It’s the direction of the investment and the content. It’s BS, but the fans soak it up.

PTN in DCA, DCA may or may not get Pixar Pier, but looking unlikely because the rest of the park is being treated to Pixar Propaganda, Disneyland loses Remember... Dreams Come True, which is the ultimate in century of self Freudian mixed with Walt Disney propaganda and nostalgia perfection in order to blast the "Life is a Highway" cover from one of those Cars movies nobody watched. The most Pixar I want coming to Disneyland Resort is the naming of the new garage adjacent to Mickey and Friends as "Woodie and Friends."

I'll be visiting on some saturdays in March 2018 when the park is in decent shape (minus the neutered Pirates), and then I'll be sitting this out until SW:GE opens.

Literally the worst. Also L O L that PTN starts six months from now and the Frozen float replacement won’t be ready until “later in the year.” Sorry TDA, but y’all are *bad at this*
Sounds like they’re just waiting to debut this new unit a little closer to when a certain Pixar movie opens that summer....

@marni1971, from your knowledge, has anything changed that could mean Pixar Pier being either delayed or cancelled, as speculated? Also are there any hints you can give about the other PTN unknown float?

I wonder if the possible Pixar Pier cancellation (or delay) is related to the Eastern Gateway cancellation in some way. New parking lot and eastern gateway cancellation were announced yesterday. Today they announce Pixar fest but no mention of the highly relevant Pixar Pier. Not a coincidence if you ask me. Not sure what the connection is but there is one. Maybe budget changes due to the parking garage location change? Maybe Monsters or Bugs Land survive so Pixar Pier isn't as necessary?

Or maybe they just realized the whole thing is completely unecessary.

At its base, this is exactly what I think it is. With Mission Breakout, although controversial, it at least had its shills and defenders and the entire incident created buzz and discussion amongst people about the change. But Pixar Pier? No one cared. At all. Disney's announcement of Pixar Pier was met with less excitement than James Cameron's announcement of Avatar sequels. At most, people just seemed confused. If the goal of Pixar Pier was to draw more guests into DCA, it should be clear this wouldn't do it by the less than lukewarm reception of the announcement.

If they end up still going through with Pixar Pier, however, I don't see it getting any hype amongst locals the way Mission Breakout did. At its very least, MB was a ""new"" ride. I can't see anyone falling for a name change to California Screamin' and thinking it's a new ride or lining up for hours to experience a new spinner in its southern helix. At best, what Pixar Pier could bring is a new World of Color show but that can be done without renaming everything and putting character faces everywhere.

Truthfully, if Pixar Pier happens, I see it, along with the rest of Pixar Fest, being a huge failure, even more so than Summer of Heroes, and it just might lead to Bob Chapek getting canned.

Well aren't you a ray of sunshine this morning.

We've got a situation where the purse strings are loosened and money is flowing into the parks, but the people selecting what is going into the parks are making bad decisions because they don't know and love the parks. On paper all these things for DL/WDW make sense to someone who has never actually spent 15 minutes inside DCA, Epcot, etc. or has any interest in themed design as a medium or art form.

Well said.

Still really curious to see what they do with Mickeys Fun Wheel. I went to the park yesterday and my almost 2 year old son kept seeing it and saying "keyyyyy".... wanting to walk towards it like it was some sort of beacon. I'm pretty sure the Pixar lamp or a bunch of smaller (in size and stature) Pixar characters would not have the same pull. In addition, I can't go on reddit/ fb/ instagram without seeing 100 pictures of it everyday.

The darn thing just works. Silly to change it really. Especially for something like this.

So what will be happening in march (Easter) trip planned with no daytime parade, no nighttime parade, what nighttime entertainment. Disappointed if nothing's going on then.
