What does SWL have to do with a ride getting FP? The ride doesn't work with it regardless of the fact there is something new elsewhere. I think I'll stay with Knotts and MM.

Do I think it'll work, with regular FP doubt it. But switch it to MaxPass only next year post-SW:GE opening and you have a reason for guest to do it. Next year that side of the park is going to be packed no matter what. Standby lines are going to be 60-90+ mins even on the slowest of days. Giving guests the ability to skip those lines is going to be something they will pay for.

And if it doesn't work as they think, they can always just turn it off again.

And let us not forget the never ending cycle of new executives is also likely unqualified for their position and never been cast members (or guests).

It’s not going to be as bad as everyone thinks. SWLs effect on crowds at DL I’m talking about. The park is already full of APs. There is already a lot of cross over with theme park nerds and Star Wars fans. SWL will not turn many non APs into APs. Especially the Deluxe and above since they already got rid of the So Cal pass and I’m sure they won’t bring it back for at least a couple years after SWL opens.

So how many huge Star Wars fans are their that don’t already have APs that are going to be swarming the parks? Many tourists east of the Mississippi will go to WDW to see SWL. Not to mention, they haven’t even unveiled the AP program restructuring yet which is being designed for this very reason.

My prediction.... DL is uncomfortable for late Spring 2019 thru the end of Summer 2019 with days of insanity mixed in. Especially the first few weeks after opening and the west side of the parks will have it the worst of course. I think most days DCA and parts of DL will feel lighter crowds because of SWL. Then I think there will be a small dip in attendance in the fall and then it ll be uncomfortable again with some very bad days during the holidays. The start of 2020 (and opening of SWL east) will bring a slow gradual decline to the the crowds. When Spring/ Summer hit Marvel Land should help get some of the crowds (at the very least APs to see what’s new) to DCA, especially if they can find a way to give us more than a meet and greet.

I agree. All the nuts are already in the parks. I don't think that number is going to increase beyond a few clueless tourists.

Lol. This is going to be like Mission Breakout on Steroids for the most part. Just moving APs to another section of the park.

I don't think there will be an attendance dip the Fall of 2019. GE will still be new, plus we go right into Halloween Time, then Christmas. There may be a dip after December, but that is also when attractions go down if they need a lengthy refurb. Then Spring break starts. And on it goes.

Ya you re probably right. I forgot that Halloween time not only starts in August but lower tier APs will be flocking back to the park to see SWL. So maybe no attendance dip in the fall but some of the craziness surrounding SWL dies down. How they restructure the AP program plays a big part.

This ^^^

It's also important that the same land is being built in Walt Disney World, and opening soon after Disneyland's- negating the need for tourists to fly into Anaheim, since WDW is considered to be the better resort by many.

I'm excited for 5 years from now, when SWL isn't the hot, new thing- but instead is beneficial since it's adding thousands of people worth of capacity to the park. Eventually, the surge in attendance it causes will drop (it always does) but having the extra acreage and high capacity rides will be great.

What if, as part of the cave alterations rumored by @GiveMeTheMusic , they change or get rid of this painting? It'd certainly be in line with the PC theme that they seem to be going for with this update. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed it to a portrait of Redd to help legitimize the character.

That said, this is just my groundless speculation that I hope has no weight.

Though I like that Disneyland is a dry park, I wouldn't be opposed to a cart selling various beverages outside the ride entrance to help ease the shock of what we're about to witness.

Or, VR headsets + headphones for guests to revert the ride back to it's pre '97 state.

No guarantee its going to be exactly the same. So in the end it I see it playing out to be much ado about nothing.

It being the same would jive with Disney's cut and paste approach- building exact replicas of lands and attractions in separate parks. I don't see them spending the money to develop two different scenes, when it's far cheaper to just put the same audio in both rides, and build double of the new set pieces and animatronics.

My thoughts exactly. If they're not even going to try the east coast vs. west coast difference with SWL, why would they on a much more minor change like this? Cut, copy, paste, move on.
