Pirates Queue

Hello all, heard an interesting rumor via a certain podcast the other day pertaining to interactive elements being added to the PoTC queue. I've ridden Pirates the last two days and noticed several scrim type blockades up throughout the right queue. Does anyone know anything about this?

I haven't heard about this. If this is true, then all I can say is congrats Disney. Congratulations on ruining the best "classic" queue.

Seriously, they already screwed with the original ride by adding the movie characters. Now I guess they have to finish the job by destroying the charm of the queue as well. :fork:

The chess playing skeletons will now blow bubbles and there will be some pirate wench voice that sounds like the Fairy Godmother asking guests to come up with obvious rhymes for a sea shanty she's having trouble with.

Not sure if it has anything to do with any upcoming upgrades to the queue, but the work walls you see in the right queue are where there was almost a secret passage to bypass a part of the queue. I remember exploring it once. It is just a couple steps up and a left turn and you can cut the line. I just thought they blocked it off to prevent any line jumping problems. Can anyone back me up on this?

I presume this is a first step in "haunted mansionizing" the PotC queue. Once FPP is fully in place, all 'big' rides will need a standby line (the updated 'right' side, with interactive elements) and a FP line (the existing, unplussed left line).

if you had a chance to explore a secret passage and didn't then you are not a pirate and should be made to walk the plank in the seven seas lagoon! arrrrr!

Both sides of the queue have scrims up in the direction facing the "center" between the two queues. A peak behind one of the scrims on Saturday night showed work lights and concrete ripped up on the floor.

I know this has little to do with the queue, but I wonder since they're adding more elements to PoTC, any chance they're moving forward with that old rumor about Mermaids being added to the ride?

While i agree they probably shouldn't go the Pooh or HM route i think some modifications to the queue could be cool. Maybe a davy jones type fog with the cursed pirates coming from it in one of the darker ares. Or how about a dancing Tupac. Either one would be sweet!

I heard Pirates was Tupac's favorite ride. Could be where he got the inspiration to pour out a little liquor and reminisce.
