Pirates of the Caribbean

It had major mechanical issues and it needed to be addressed immediately. Not worth missing a trip for one ride -_-

I think for those who have ridden both wdw and DL version will realise just how much work needed doing to the wdw version to fix the faults and non-working elements of the attraction.
Unfortunately some peoples only experience is of the wdw MK version in its old decrepit state.
Hopefully this downtime will see the ride back up on parr again.

The thing is one could postpone until the cows come home. There is no guarantee that any ride will be functioning on the day that one happens to go there. I brought a friend there a few years back because she wanted to see HM. So did I for that matter, but, as luck would have it, they were having mechanical difficulties the only day that we were scheduled to be in MK. I felt bad, but, it really didn't define my overall trip, just a minor disappointment.

My biggest disappointment ever was at HM during my first and only visit to Disneyland. I really wanted to see the difference, if any, between DL's HM and WDW's HM. The weeks before I got there it was shut down to do the cheesy overlay for Nightmare before Christmas. That was one closure that just wasn't necessary, but, none the less I had the distinct displeasure of riding through that cardboard cutout mess instead of the good ole HM.

Awww, I like that cardboard cutout!! :cat:

Oh look another thread complaining about a refurb.

Well you know, my trip now is just ruined because 1 attraction is closed. My poor little princess has her heart set on seeing Depp, now she will be damaged for life because she does not get to see him. Doesn't Disney know that if we are spending this much money that everything should be open.

Whoops sorry. My next trip isn't until 2016 or 2017. And I don't have kids. Sorry....................Cruella made me do it. Or the Hot evil queen from Once upon a time, yeah she is way better than Cruella.

I just heard a rumor that my favorite attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean, has closed for the entire summer. Is this true. If so, why would they choose the busiest season, summer, for refurbishments. What are they adding if anything? If true, I will delay my trip.

It is disappointing when your favorite ride is not available during your trip. Many years ago, I recall that Space Mountain (my favorite ride at that time) was being fixed just at the time of my visit. (It had been about 5-6 years since I had gone to WDW back then, and I was really looking forward to SM at that time.)

Regardless, once I arrived in the park, I had a great time enjoying all the other rides and attractions in MK, and in the other parks. :) So I just wanted to share my experience with you, in the hope that you'll still go ahead with your vacation, too.

It happens. It's life.

SSE was closed for my 2007 trip. I'd waited six years to return. I still had an enjoyable time.

If Pirates is your favourite ride try Disneyland instead. That version is far superior and will be open.
