Why bother investing money when MK is the most visited theme park in the world and spending per guest has been increasing steadily. They have no reason to invest money.

I actually prefer ours over theirs. They rely too much on screens and projectors and has no nostalgic value. I wouldnt mind seeing some updates to ours but not to that level

I agree. It does look great don't get me wrong, feels like a combination of Spiderman and Pirates by the look of it. Leave our Pirates as is but make sure the boat ride at Avatarland is breathtaking and cutting edge instead.

I don't like their's at all. Yes, it is all techy and modern, but so much of it relies on screens with CGI images. Maybe it's because I play a lot of video games, but seeing CGI animation like that (which isn't even up to the standards of some modern games) feels like a cheap way to make a ride. Plus, it will feel dated in a few years because of the continual advancement in CGI. I much prefer the look of the one in WDW, which is more timeless and doesn't try to be all cool and flashy. Instead it actually relied on creativity and story telling.

They have some AWESOME effects, but too many screens and too less animatronics.
As cool as it looked, Shanghai POC kind of remind me of GFSTTD (Gran Fiesta Starring the Three Caballeros) boat ride in EPCOT.

I'm saying keep the original and add the other as the POTC 2,,, also it is possible to add an attraction once a year and not every decade. I have been going since 1974 and think tommorowland needs to be updated to Tommorowland and not early 90's land

I really hate this argument - 'nostalga' - let's never change, let's have attractions that are hopelessly out of date because it's nostalgic.

Ridiculous. The version in Shanghai is stunning, brilliant. It combines the physical attraction, with the simulation. Disney Imagineers can still do great things if allowed to. Not cheap overlays, etc

I agree at some point on many attractions but some dont need cutting edge tech and simulations to be enjoyable especially the old classic rides like POTC and haunted mansion. Now if it was dinosaur or tower of terror, they can go ape crazy of new tech and i wouldnt mind. Some attractions just need to be left alone. And obviously im not the only one who enjoys how some of these rides still. Look at the wait times

Whilst the use of screens didnt really do it for me, it cant be denied that sme of the effects were spectscular (that Capt.Sparrow projection:eek:)

Pirates of the Caribbean Shanghai is visually stunning and extremely well done. Yes, the new adventure leads us to a new level of greatness. You can't compare the original to the newest addition of our story. Unbelievable work...imagineers!

WondersOfLife

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
It may be an amazing ride, but that doesn't mean we should get rid of the original. If WDW's version needs to resemble another park's Pirates ride in any way, it needs to be more like Disneyland's... Expanded.

You obviously have your finger on the pulse of theme park management. What are your credentials?

By "innovation" I assume you mean "HD projectorgasms".
which is Universal's thing.

Technically PotC Shanghai is little more than cheap overlay. A few props, three or four stunning animatronics.....and a movie for the rest of it. Sitting in a boat....watching a movie.
