Rumor Pirates Of The Caribbean Major Refurbishment

God the Paris version is so good. I was blown away when I went on my honeymoon last September. Eating dinner at Captain Jack’s and watching the boats go by and then going on the ride right after was fantastic, and the ride itself was just a perfected version of the original. Their Redd looked better too imo, she fit the vibe of the original animatronics- more limited and more cartoony.

Also the ride was a walk on (as was Phantom Manor, and everything else minus Peter Pan was 15 minutes and under for a wait), which is crazy. I think Paris might have ruined WDW crowds for me, because I now know what it’s like to not stress at a theme park and take my time to explore because the lines are so short I don’t have to worry about missing anything 😂
Based on video I can’t decide which one looks better. California or Paris’s.

I recall it being mentioned by an insider or two here (either Marin or Lee I think, I forget) that at some point in the 2000s, WDI planned a significant refurb to include the "up the waterfall" sequence. So you would remain on the lift and disembark at the top similar to Anaheim. Maybe a new showscene as well. Would have required significant money and work, but it was something they wanted. Apparently Orlando management vetoed it. I assume that ship has sailed and won't ever return again though (pun intended). Shame. Though IMO, the removal of the Blue Bayou/Lagoon and the additional cavern show scenes are bigger misses than the lift. Those aren't really possible to implement without significantly expanding the building southward and adding new track (well theoretically I suppose they COULD have added the restaurant at the end, had they gone through with the lift alteration).

If the original state was boring then yeah I guess they succeeded.
The original state had a sort of calm and quiet subtlety that was ruined by the projection. Not to mention the movie characters got into an argument with the classic and unsettling disembodied "dead men tell no tales" voice, insisting that it was wrong.

I mean the talking skull and crossbones at the beginning kinda contradicts it too.

This was tossed out in IU, and getting discussed. Talk as you will.

POTC getting a big refurb after BTM has been thrown out there. Would be nice to see the buccaneers get some work done.

(Though it does kinda kill my hope of MK POTC getting the Tokyo Space “rebuild”
Treatment).

Wasn’t really sure if this warrented its own thread but, here you go. Grain of salt and all that.

IMHO I would love to see the Shanghai POTC built in DHS (probably in the Echo lake area replacing the Indy stunt show) and then returning the MK POTC to a Jack Sparrow-less state. The two attractions would be sufficiently different to have in separate parks without Jack in the MK.

This would also be okay, although I'd still prefer they use the Shanghai system to build something else instead just cloning that POTC. It could be much better than it is.

The Shanghai system *could* have been the basis for a Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, if the people running WDW were:

a. Not so stingy when it comes to expansion
b. Not so dead set on Ministry Of Truth-ing Splash Mountain.

Will everything be closed for refurb in 2025 so that Disney can use that as an excuse for WDW's low revenue in 2025 and not EPIC ?

I think that wouldn’t have fit the plot of land Splash is on. They could put a Shanghai Pirates ride system on the Fire Mountain plot in Adventureland, theme it to Moana and there’s another LL generating E Ticket. Depending on how big they make it they could add a smaller flat ride maybe.

Actually it would have worked on TSI. Just re-route the RoA to make it accessible by foot. Riverboat still runs, adding to the New Orleans ambience.

Aunt Polly’s would become Charlie’s Cafe (where Tiana worked at the beginning of the movie), then there would be a full on Tiana’s Palace restaurant.
