Well, in Disneyland, the drop is the same height as the one on Splash Mountain, 52.5 feet tall.

It's really quite tame. Not bad at all. But it can take you by surprise if you don't know when it's coming up. Fairly easy to figure out by the music and story. :)

I love when people are talking and not paying attention, then scream when the drop comes. Everyone gets a great laugh at their expense. Sorry... a pet peave of mine. The rowdy guests who think nobody else wants to pay attention.

Where the heck did you get this information? The drop there is only a bit bigger than ours, but it is no 52.5 feet tall.

The drop is fun...I agree that it catches you off guard and that's ALWAYS a blast!

BTW...didn't the talking skull, right before the drop, used to be directly over the drop? It's now on the side. Am I crazy about this?

I think it's a completely different skull, maybe it was replaced and moved to the side for easier fixing?

Also 52.5 feet in DLs? I think not, maybe if you add both drops together (if I'm remembering it correctly) one drop just because and one more to get under the Disneyland Railroad tracks, I don't remember where I read that but I know I did, I don't know if it's true though. But still there is no way that a 52.5 foot drop would be put in on such an attraction, the skull says rapids ahead not a waterfall of doom!! :hurl: haha

Haha...my mother always screams on that little drop, but not because she's not paying attention. She's actually scared! She considers Pirates a thrill ride for her and is very proud that she will go one it. :hammer:

Actually, let me clarify....

The LENGTH of the first drop on Pirates at DL is 52ft, not the HEIGHT. It is a 52 foot ramp, at a 21 degree angle.
The second drop is 37 feet long, at the same angle.

Someone else can do the geometry if you really want to know how tall they are.

So, yensidtlaw1969 was close...
