y = 19.968 feet (for the first drop).

y = 14.208 feet (for the second drop at DL).

Sorry to be a true geek...

But for the first drop

y = 18.64 feet

and for the second drop

y= 13.26 feet

52 feet represents the length of the hypotenuse (the ramp), right? You made it the length of the base. :wave:

Actually, let me clarify....

The LENGTH of the first drop on Pirates at DL is 52ft, not the HEIGHT. It is a 52 foot ramp, at a 21 degree angle.
The second drop is 37 feet long, at the same angle.

Someone else can do the geometry if you really want to know how tall they are.

So, yensidtlaw1969 was close...
That's what I meant! Sorry I didn't clarify. I don't think I ever actually said it was 52.5 feet TALL, I just said it was 52.5 feet. Why do all of you have to attack me like that?:cry: lol

Oh, by the way TAC, I'm THIRTEEN. Besides, my agedoesn't define my infinite wisdom of Disney. I was right and you were all wrong!:sohappy:
Just Kidding.

The best thing about this post was that after all of the debate and math formulas, the very first response (Dean [AU]) was fairly accurate. Great memory!

The info is on Deb Wills' site, so y'all could have saved a lot of time! ;) :lol:

And I agree, yensid shouldn't be attacked simply because he misunderstood it a little.

Haha, and I'm like that too... proud that I can handle a thrill ride like POTC! :lol:
