I know no time is a good time, and no time is a quiet time, but coming into high season for what seems like regular maintainence?

*checks more sources*

Well, there it is on disney's calendar. Weird. Wonder what they're doing?

I agree, seems like quite the odd time to choose for a refurbishment. Perhaps it's just that important?

I'm sure it is just regular maintenance, but why does it have to be down during my visit. This was going to be my first chance to see the new version of POC.

I just wanted to add:

How can they do this during my trip!?!?! Do you think it will open early? Pirate is my favorite ride though i haven't ridden it in several years and haven't acknolwedged it's existence other then this post! Why can't they do these in the off-season, you know, that time period when my family specificly isn't going!

All meant as humor, but i'm sure you've all seen such posts here too ;)

They're installing AA's based off of Disney animated movie characters, but fear not they are done in the style of POTC.....Smee and Captain Hook will have dirty skin, smell bad, and have clothing covered in ash and dirt.

Watch out for the tick tock aligator, he'll be in the burning city near the pirate trying to get on the boat with all the loot.

Disney just made an announcement "Our Imagineers take careful time and consideration when plussing our classic attractions. Like Walt Disney said, his theme parks are not meant to be a museum, but will always be changing and enhancing over the years."

The funny thing was right below that in really tiny print was this message...to be quite honest we've actually run out of new ideas for the most part, and rely on our disney animated movie and/or television characters to be in rides now when we enhance them, if it weren't for Dole Pineapple and Diane Disney Miller's snide remark about keeping the Enchanted Tiki Room the same but refreshed (which she said to Eisner at the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland), we would have gutted that attraction and put Lilo and Stitch's tuti fruti on the ruti room in its place/

:p    :lookaroun

Now now, PotC already has a movie tie-in. Why would you want to add more characters? Oh wait, I wasn't thinking like Disney management.

Don't forget that Stitch will be replacing the guy with the hairy foot. :sohappy:

Ok this is starting to stink a little. When my family is down there the Nine Dragons is already shut down and now they are going to take down POTC too. I know it's for a while but we are down there June 2-8 so we only get 3 days to ride it. I guess we better make it on there as soon as we get there.
GRRRRRR!!!!!!

Yes, it will be a great injustice for both Nine Dragons and PotC down while there! One ride and one restaurant is far too many!!!!!

I'm flying in two days after it closes. This was going to be the first time I've seen the new version, and I probably won't get back for at least four years. And it really does seem dumb to close it right at the beginning of peak summer.

I know we all hate to have rides closed during our vacations, but I am glad to see that WDI is trying to keep attractions well maintained. Look at it this way: I think all of us would rather POTC be closed for a week or two for minor refurbishments now rather than letting the ride deteriorate more and then be stuck with a lengthy one to two month refurb down the line.
