It's a Small World!

OOO, I will never look at that ride the same way now. I don't even want to think of those characters as "dolls". Imagine if all of the lights went of during that ride, while those "dolls" were spitting at you. What a freakish thing for Disney. I don't know, that ride is just plain crazy. They should do something to it. Not spitting dolls though, please!:hammer:

They put that "you may get wet" disclaimer on all water rides...weather its Kali (duh) or Its a small world....in theory..you could always fall off the boat...and thus...you are wet...

I never saw this warning at Pirates or IASW but then again I never really looked for them.

I don't like the visual on this one ... I'll bet I'll have nightmares tonight, eh?

I don't get those warnings...every ride but Kali says "You may get wet!", but Kali says "You WILL get wet. You MAY get DRENCHED!". I think Splash Mountain should have that warning now...anyone on the right is guaranteed to get drenched and the person on the front left will get drenched...only three people even have a CHANCE of staying moderately dry...but everyone gets wet.

I was on Splash Mountain last week and I didn't notice that they hold the cars before the lift hill so that the people coming down the large drop get you wet...(That might have been because it was cold though) I thought we were gonna get soaked but we didn't...I think that it is still random if you get wet at that spot.

when I was there everyone got drenched...but it was in the 70s. Disney has complete control of whether or not you get wet. A prime example is Jungle Cruise. Those ride ops have complete control of who gets wet...so if you do next time you ride, you know who to blame :)

When would you get "drenched?" I mean, a little cannonball in the water is not going to get you drenched...I was wondering if they had an effect that they removed.

I have never got wet on the Jungle Cruise either...at the most maybe from the "backside of water" but that's it. (The elephants should "blow their trunks" at random times I think...it would add a little more excitement to the ride)

One night a long time ago we were on the Jungle Cruise near park closing. The boat was basically empty and it was just our family and my cousins. The skipper was joking around with us and my dad and cousin were going back and forth with him giving him "smart" answers to all of his questions. Well when we got to the elephant section the elephant "swallowed" the water just as we were in front of it. Then the skipper smiled at my dad and cousin and stopped the boat. They smiled back and said they didn't think he would really let the elephant shoot water into the boat. They even dared him to do it. Well, they were wrong. The elephant rose up and unloaded all that water right into the boat. My dad and cousin dove out of the way but my cousin's young daughter got completely drenched. It was the best trip I have ever had on the Jungle Cruise.

Ha! I would love Pirates to have a bit more water. When I rode it the first time in '85 my mother got soaked one time from a cannon ball splash. The next time I took her seat and didn't get wet. This past January I got soaked on the first drop....I think that depends on how the boat is loaded.
However, the PoC in CA...there's no way you're staying dry. I personally think that Pirates is much better. The ambience is better. But I still love it no matter what!

Just back

I noticed the fact that you are held on Splash Mountain so that the log coming down splashes water on you. But... I noticed that over a year ago also.

Now, I did NOT notice anything different on Pirates. I didn't even notice the cannons firing.

When was the Pirates effect added?

The cannonball splashes seemed to be close to the boat years back. Now they splash far away from the boat.

The new splashes are not from the "cannonballs" in the water...This is a stream of water that gets SHOT at the boat. I always remember the water splashing up next to the boats...but this is a new SPRAY of water (kinda like a high powered sprinkler).

spray of water from the cannons? Can't say that was happening
when I was there a couple weeks ago...as for Splash, the effect of getting wet from the log going over the final drop has been in effect for at least 2 or 3 years, but it used to be slightly more hit and miss--this year it got us every time.

Well this depends on whether they just come from the pirates or from the castle also. If they come from both then you can sit on both sides of the boat.
