I have been hearing alot about pirate cruises that leave from the GF for boys. Does any one have more info on how to reserve, etc such as is there an age limit? Any comments would be appreciated as I think my ds would enjoy this as it seems we catered more to my dd since she is into princess stuff. Thanks.

There are 3 cruises. One from CBR, POR and GF. Apperently they are all in search of pirates treasure but with different captains. I am going to enroll my son in it but can't seem to decide on a location. I think maybe GF, so I can paruse the monorail resorts/shops there/get a coffee at Kona. Still undecided, though.

They set sail at 9:30 and return at 11:30 with a hat, patch and treasure to take with them. I think they serve lunch to them, too. The cost is $31 and must be paid in advance with a cc, to keep the ressie. I was told I can book by calling 1-407-WDW-PLAY. I believe the ages are from 4-12. I think my son, 4, will enjoy it as he loves pirates. :)

We sent my nephew off on the cruise from GF in 2004. He LOVED it. He carried around his bag of treasures the entire day. All of the kids were given pirate mouse ears (which he proudly wore) before setting sail for their private island. He told us that they had pb&j and carrot sticks (I think) for lunch along with a couple of other snacks. He had a bag of gems (similar to what you get at the PPP) along with a few other little plastic toys. We took a lot of pictures as they were getting ready to leave. The parents were given a pager in the event of an emergency. We shopped at the GF and walked the grounds while we waited for him to return. He still talks about it 4 years later.

My sons have each done 2 cruises....one from the Y&BC and one from the GF. My DS age 11 is now too old.......

They loved them! The one from Y&BC took them to the Boardwalk and also a few of the countries in Epcot....they thought that was very cool. It was fun watching them all sail off, and on the way back they were all yelling "Argh!" and such. (We were staying at Swan that year so I did laundry during their trip....what fun for me!)

They also enjoyed the GF cruise. Believe it or not I had time to zip over to MK, get a Dole Whip and ride the TTA, then head back and I got there just as they were coming back to dock. We were there w/ Grandma and Grandpa and they stayed just in case I wasn't back in time. They enjoyed looking around the resort.

As stated above they got lots of pirate treasure, pirate mouse ears, and lunch. I highly recommend it!

Awesome Ohio. I think my son will love it. Does the pager work other than at the GF? They wear life vests, right?

They do wear life vests. We made a big deal of taking pictures and such when my sister got my nephew ready to go. He was 7 and while he wasn't really scared, he had not mastered swimming yet so he was a little aprehensive at first. My mother on the other hand....we had to pry her off of the deck after they set sail. She wanted to sit there and wait for him to come back. :ROFLOL:. We did not leave the GF but the pager that they gave us was not they type that you'd get when you go out to eat that just lights up. It was what I like to call the "real" type, meaning like what doctors carry, etc. so I imagine that we could have left the GF if we wanted to. There was no way my mother would let us go far though. :o

I'm considering this for my kids so that I can have a couple hours of alone time on our next trip (so I can ride some coasters!). The only thing is neither of them like PB&J sandwiches. Are there any other food options? Can you make special requests or send your own sandwich?
